For Pierre Greys Lakes Provincial Rec Area: We loved this park, but it might not be for everyone. We stayed in the M loop, in a back-in site directly across from the lake. The lake is small but pretty; boating and fishing are reputed to be good. The back-in sites are correctly oriented for easy in and out, and most of the sites are level. There is a nice little hiking trail to the remains of Pierre Grey’s trading post. We appreciate that Alberta does a good job preserving their history. The best thing about this park was the absolute quiet. People come here to get away, not to party. The two downsides are (1) no potable water (hand pumps are available but water is not treated), and (2) the M loop is at the end of a one-mile well-graded but sloping dirt road. The road is well-maintained, at least early in the season, but when we left it was raining, and I was a bit nervous about traction. As it happens, we had no issue driving it, but if it were muddy it would have been a concern.
