For Lake Martin Recreation Area: We toured the area this morning. In short, WHAT A DUMP. And that comment is being very generous. Roads are terrible, could not even identify campsites due to the heavy coating of leaves. Seeing some RVs there the question we had is how the heck did they get I there? If going to Lake Martin, Wind Creek State Park on the opposite side of the lake has so much more to offer.

For Lake Martin Recreation Area: I'm really disappointed in this recreation/campground area. This place should be a prestige Air Force campground but instead it looks like an old abandoned site. Restroom buildings are old, falling apart, and filled with garbage. Docks are a safety hazard and I wouldn't walk on them at all. Roads are in need of major repairs and sites are gravel and not level at all. Some sites you can't even tell they are camp sites. Boats and trailers stored and or parked here looks like they are abandoned. The Commander at Maxwell AFB should be embarrassed to even offer this place as a recreation area. Major funding should be appropiated to make this recreation area into a prestigious campground and recreational area that should be on such a beautiful lake. Glad I was just here as a stopover, I definitely don't recommend this place at all.

For Lake Martin Recreation Area: Agree with previous reviewer. This place is the neglected step child of military campgrounds. It looks like a third world country. The roads are narrow and pot-holed. The pads are dirt covered with pine straw and leaves. I had to elevate one side of our trailer 6 inches. I saw others even higher. On the positive side, the beach is nice. The manager was friendly and even apologetic for the condition of the place. I won't be coming back.

For Lake Martin Recreation Area: Disappointing. I stayed in a class C motor home. Roads and pads are narrow gravel. Pads 52-56 in my area had full hookups. Cable at the front end and electric and water at the back. Distance was so far apart I could have water or cable, but not both... Neighbor saved me from the decision... cable doesn't work. No over the air TV reception either. Community bath house is old, very weak shower and not very clean. Cobwebs in every corner, nook and cranny. Daily inspection sheet was last initialed on 16 July.. 11 weeks ago.
Docks in the camping area are in bad shape. Lake level is very low, and all docks were high and dry.
The office had several cooler cases, price lists on the wall, but no merchandise for sale. ???
Neglected, run-down facility. Two thumbs down! Worst military campground I've seen.
