For Lake Fort Smith State Park: Really nice park. Everything appears to be new and in good repair. WARNING : Do not proceed past the park office on the road above office. It looks like the camp spots are down this road but the road becomes dirt and then goes onto a two track goat trail through the mountains. Very narrow , rough, and virtually impossible to turn a 5th wheel around!!! You might be wondering how I know this!😬😬

For Lake Fort Smith State Park: Our third time here for a one-day stop on a cross country trip did not disappoint. This state park is beautiful, even in winter! Welcoming staff, spacious sites are spotless and many have lake views. Full hook ups available and well maintained. Although somewhat remote and without cell service it is a special place to camp comfortably to enjoy peace and nature.

For Lake Fort Smith State Park: Lake Fort Smith State Park - Mountainburg, Arkansas. This was our first visit to this state park. We spent a week here on our way south. First off, the road into the park is not in the greatest shape, so just take it slow. If in a big rig, do not follow your GPS if it wants you to exit at hwy 282. Get off of I-49 at the Mountainburg exit. Much better road and no low hanging branches to deal with. The park itself is better than we expected. Really nice concrete sites with a concrete patio area and a separate tent site. Full hook up sites with 30 and 50 amp electric. Plenty of room in our site for our 40 foot Class A motorhome and tow. It is fairly isolated, so bring what you need with you. It is about 20 to 25 miles into Alma, Fort Smith or Van Buren. The park has a small marina, with boat, kayak and canoe rentals. A playground for the kiddo's and a large day use area with pavilions and cover tables. They have several cabins that can be rented as well. The have a seasonal pool, that was closed on our visit. We like Lake Dardenelle better, but only because it was much closer into town. We would stay here again in the future if traveling in the vicinity.

For Lake Fort Smith State Park: Beautiful and well laid out. It is a state park that has several full hookups including 50 amps & sewage, which accommodates our 40' RV with no problems. We have stayed in this area before but always avoided this park because of poor experiences in state parks in other states-- certainly not our first mistake, but one of the worst. In addition to the beauty of the area and the quality of the facilities, all of the Park personnel we met were extremely courteous and helpful. We will gladly return, even as an end point destination for a short vacation.
