For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: My perspective is from a 45 foot class A Motorhome towing a trailer. Campground is a standard National Forest Service affair. Gravel roads/ sites, picnic tables, fire ring, pit toilets. Hosts had little if any contact with campers. Most sites are basically level with a few leveling boards needed the longer you are. Generator use is 6am to 10pm and sites are spaced far enough apart that noise is not an issue. Some sites are close to the highway but still really traffic noise should not be a problem. Drive to North Rim lodge from here is 44 miles and very scenic, speeds 45 to 55mph is enforced. Note that sister park (Dermont) 30 miles closer to rim is built on slight hill and sites are smaller and most are not level so Jacobs Lake is a much better option for rigs over 25 feet. Pull through sites are generally just wider spots in the road and generally bigger than stated on the campground website. My service on Verizon iPhone 13 was 2-3 bars and average at best speeds. Satellite service is achievable here at most sites even though campground is nicely treed. Many reviews talk about Jacob Lake Store/ Restaurant/ Souvenir shop/ Gas station very close by. It has a lot of curb appeal but it’s really not special otherwise. If you want dinner at the lodge at the North rim make reservations in advance!!! Unless you’re doing a lot of hiking at the North Rim two days is ample time to see the sights. BTW. North Rim campground in the park has some sites that will handle 45 foot rigs but Rangers won’t let you in regardless. Also other than being 5-10 minutes from the rim campground is not special. Camping in this area is a 8,000 to 9,000 foot affair. If you have asthma, COPD, or other respiratory problems beware as you may experience altitude sickness.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: While I agree with previous reviewers regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of this campground, the lack of a dump station prevents me from giving it more than three stars. We prefer Forest Service campgrounds, and many do have dump stations, dish washing stations, and potable water for tanks. Not providing for waste disposal is a failure in environmental stewardship.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: Stayed here in June 2022 and previously June 2021. Meticulously clean and well kept campground. No showers or dump but potable water available. Vault toilets were well maintained and clean. Sites are level and most are shaded by mature ponderosa. Gas available across highway (expensive) as well as a small restaurant.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: The Park is nice, clean and friendly. Water is sparse and shower are metered and you have to pay for. Has a small store to buy at. Power is at the front of the space so if you rig power cord is in the back like mine you may need a extra cord. Luckily I had a 10ft cord. The county does not allow sewer hose to touch the ground, not even to drain your tanks. It is a older park but I found it to be well kept. You are about a hour way from the North Rim.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: Very nice well kept campground. It is right on the highway but traffic dies down at night. This campground is very busy and fills nearly every night. We goth there early and got the last spot during the week. Note, if the campground is full go south on the highway headed to the park. In the first 4 miles or so there are a number of great dispersed spots a bit off the highway. I saw some big motor homes in them when we visited the North Rim.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: This is an absolutely fantastic campground. Clean and level gravel sites with nice picnic tables. The hosts rake the sites and they clean the bathrooms 3 times per day. There’s water available in the campground and a gas station and a small store a few blocks away from the site and it’s only 40 minutes or so from the entrance to the north rim. There’s also forest roads just down the street to go exploring if you’re into that. 10/10.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: One of the most beautiful USFS campgrounds I’ve ever seen & much better than most National Parks. Level, spacious & raked gravel sites w nice picnic tables. Immaculate grounds. 1/2 the sites are reservable & half are 1st come, 1st served & many are pull through. The CG hosts have been super friendly We are self contained, so haven’t used the bathrooms, but I’m guessing they’re immaculate too based on everything else here. Across the road is restaurant, small grocery & fuel. CG is 1 hour north of the N Rim of the Grand Cyn. NP. Their CG is closed this summer for water line repairs. Recommend highly.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: I’m an avid hunter and don’t often stay in camp ground when hunting, however when it’s just me scouting or a quick trip solo I stay in a campground.... odd I know. The hosts here are always friendly and super helpful, facilities are clean too. Cell phone coverage in the area is hit and miss, I believe the only tower is in Jacobs lake, but could be wrong. If you’re looking for a more rustic away from people camping experience there are 100’s of camp sites in the forest up there within a 5 mile radius “as the bird flies per say”. One thing about the area I want to mention, you’re at 8,000-9,000’ elevation in this area (9,000 is more towards the Grand Canyon in a couple pockets). You can get quite a bit of wind up there so don’t be surprised if it is windy almost nonstop. At night it can get chilly to downright COLD especially if you’re from Phoenix. I was hunting in this area in late October a couple years ago, I left Phoenix and it was mid 90’s. I got up there about midnight and it was a crisp 28 degrees, over the course of 11 days I had a dusting of snow on the ground 2 of those days one of those days had winds that cut right though you!! Even in the summer bring some warmer weather clothes and rain gear, rain will creep up in this area. In this area of the state you don’t have to worry about bears as there is no known population of them in the area, biggest thing you have to worry about is mountain lions. Don’t fear the lions they are just like any cat and want to stay away from you as far as possible, you might hear lion sounds at night when they’re the most active but it generally won’t be close to camp grounds like this. When driving in this area be carefull and keep an eye out for deer, the kaibab plateau is packed full of mule deer and they run across the road often. I’ve seen many accidents there from people hitting deer, one of them we stopped and helped the 2 European women who had hit the deer. We got them back to Jacobs lake, squared away with DPS and on their way. Right across the road you can stop into the lodge at Jacobs lake for food, soft serve, beer or even one of their amazing muffins or cookies!!!! The lodge does not have tobacco products so if you smoke or dip you won’t find it there.

For Jacob Lake Campground - North Rim: Super clean, and the hosts are very friendly. Great place to stay when you visit north Grand Canyon.
