For Winn Campground: We were looking for a campground that has light traffic, cool temperatures, and easy access to enjoyable hiking. Winn Campground fit the bill nicely. Coming from the Phoenix area where the daily high temps are 110+, the mid 80’s at Winn were perfect (even better were the nighttime temps in the 50’s). We picked a M-Th stay in the first week of August and found the campground about half full. Even full, there is ample space between sites. (Note that there are two loops in the campground - a first-come-first served loop w/25 sites & reserved loop w/36 sites). We found enjoyable hiking within the immediate area on a section of the Apache Railroad Tr, the East Fork 95A Tr, and found Elk grazing on the adjacent Winn sink early mornings. There are numerous trails and lakes in the area a short drive away.
There is water, pit toilets, and garbage collection at the campground. The 9320’ elevation requires some adjustment.
