For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: I just wanted to let everyone know they do have full hook ups. Beautiful sunsets! we had a great time staying there and exploring the area, we went up to Lake Martinez fishers landing has a fun bar n grill with bands. there’s another RV spot up there that’s Marine Corps, right on the water but not full hookups. Staff was friendly and of course i loved Mindy because she’s got the same name as me! Also go check out the castle dome mine caves north of there. Wheezys in yuma is the hot spot sports bar. And on the way into the city is a great bbq place that also serves the famous date shakes! Dirty South Bbq. only reason why I didn’t give it five stars is because it is a little way out of town but it served our needs and is very affordable.

For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: Thank you Mindy, from the office, and Nick, host, for our nice stay because this park is in the middle of nowhere and is only for travelers who like peace and quiet. It’s on the Yuma Proving Ground base. Stayed here overnight on two separate dates in Oct and Nov, the weather was sunny and warm but not hot. Beware lots of mosquitoes. The park had a clubhouse, laundry, restrooms and showers which were clean. All gravel, back in sites with a concrete pad for a picnic table and bbq but neither was provided, thus the concrete pads made no sense. A few trees but really not much shade where it’s needed. Found this base by accident traveling north on hwy 95 from Yuma to Quartzsite so not sure if we would ever stay again cause it’s really on a path to nowhere.

For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: Wonderful people and the new manager (Mr. Donita?) was very helpful. Rules seem pretty straight forward and the $385/mo price for everything seems reasonable compared to Yuma RV parks which charge extra high rates for electricity. The post is small although the YPG is very large. Not sure how it'd be in the summer but is very nice for the winter. The only downside in our opinion is the distance to Yuma.

Sam

For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: Not impressed. There are porta potties on site, but only self-contained RVs allowed? So rich people who can afford a self-contained RV (officers) can stay, lower enlisted not welcome. Typical Navy MWR, catering to money.

For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: I guess it all depends what you are looking for . We did not enjoy our stay at this FamCamp for a few reasons. We arrived on a Friday evening after the office closed and the camp host was unable to provide the cable box which is required to get cable TV. The cost of this camp is around $33 which is high--I assume to cover the cost of the cable because it was regular cable TV like you have at home. However, we only stayed 3 nights and 2 nights had no cable box--the 3rd night we were too busy packing up to figure out how to hook it up so we never even used it. Another reason we didn't enjoy this camp is it is so remote from town and most everything on the base was closed on the weekends. We tried to use the TV in the very nice club room but even with the help of some fellow campers, we were unable to get anything on the TV so we just went to bed. The site was as nice as could be expected in an arid setting--gravel and level. Our site had a row of tall trees behind which blocked the hot sun nicely and we could watch the sunset in the evenings. There is a tiny bowling alley that was open on weekends if you like that--it had three lanes and a snack bar and grill. Thirdly, there just wasn't much to do in Yuma. The FamCamp facilities were in good order (as far as the hookups--I never saw the showers and rest rooms/dog park if there was one). There was a nice park in the center of the base. Most of the restaurants were closed for the weekend. This stop was a bust for us.

Melody

For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: Add a star if you like friendly folks. There wasn't a person in the campground who didn't wave and greet/acknowledge us.
I thought the cost was high for a military campground. Most are $15-$20 a night. Desert Breeze was $30. Their rules were contradictory and burdensome. They wrote that no feeding of wildlife, including birds, was allowed. On the next line they said hummingbird feeders were ok. Rules talk about fines and evictions.
Signage on the base is poor. Visitors were told where NOT to park, but not where they COULD park. The clerk directed us to drive the wrong way to get to our assigned site.
Sewer hookup was elevated ("stuff" flows downhill . . . literally). There were no trees. There was no picnic table. The campground is 20 miles outside of town and further from area attractions. WiFi was a hit or miss affair. It sometimes worked and sometimes didn't.

Sam Thayer

For Desert Breeze Travel Camp: I was advised by the camp that they only take fully self-contained RVs (toilet).

A good way to weed out the riffraff retirees.
