For Big Sage Reservoir Campground: Pretty spot, little used, and free. BEWARE the gravel portion of the road for campers/trailers/RVs. It’s six miles of tough, tooth-loosening washboard. If you go slow it’s tolerable-ish but I’d hate for you to beat up your rig unless you knew what you were in for.

For Big Sage Reservoir Campground: This is a free BLM campsite with toilets, tables, and fire rings. No potable water but the lake is right there. We were here in the middle of May when weather was outstanding. It did get windy several days but the all day long National Geographic bird show made it worth while. We saw pelicans, grebes, gulls, herons, cormorants, bald eagles, hawks, vultures, numerous kinds of ducks and song birds were beyond number. In addition short hikes revealed several kinds of snakes, a wolf, and mustangs! The area is also known for antelope, deer and elk.
The campground is near the dam and the crappie fishing was reported to be outstanding before the floodgates opened for the irrigation season.
We did not have WiFi but did have 1-2 bars Extended 1G and were able to receive and send text messages. Occasionally emails came through. Most of the time we had the place to ourselves. We stayed 9 days. Would definitely stay again
