For Doheny State Beach: We stayed for one week during the middle of February, 2020 in our 28' long travel trailer. No hook-ups are available. We stayed at a site backing up to the beach. The dunes have been built up so high that we could barely see the ocean from trailer, which was disappointing. For $60 per night, expected a better view. Sites were also fairly small & close together. However, walking directly onto the beach from trailer was very nice.

For Doheny State Beach: This is perfect for a dry camping stay on the beach. Water is available at the dump station to fill up ahead. Try to get beachside sites; even though they are on top of each other you'll still feel open with the Pacific at your back door. Showers are 2 min./token; $1 gets you 2 tokens. Convenient to grocers, sporting goods store (in town) and restaurants & shops at Dana Point Harbor.

For Doheny State Beach: Can't beat the ocean view. Crowded though. Oceanfront sites more expensive than regular sites, so just bring your camp chairs and a hot beverage onto the sand and you'll be oceanfront! Showers, water, cell service. You can hear road noise and the occasional train, but also crashing waves. Close to services and stores.
