For Limestone Campground: this site is actually free. You must have a fire permit. They are free as well at park ranger stations. We camped over the Kern River and it was delightful. It was spring so it was not over crowded. The parking lot is great for star gazing. The water was ICE COLD but one heck of a way to wake you up. Kernville the town is great too. This is primitive camping, fire in a handmade fire pit with stones, but there is a pit toliet. Watch out for broken glass in the sites bc obviously people are the worst.
