For Mariposa Fairgrounds State: Was here the end of March looking for an overnight stay before heading into Yosemite. $30 for a water and electric hookup. Includes use of dump station. Looked at lots 3&4, but could not get level using my blocks. Lot 5 was remote and looked a little unsavory. Ended up in lot 1. Level and quiet despite being near highway. Had excellent Verizon signal. Good tasting water. Recommend if all you need is an overnight while traveling.

For Mariposa Fairgrounds State: February 2017
I stayed here as a solo female, in a travel trailer. It was very quiet, and quite safe. It is on the edge of a quaint little town, with lots of law-enforcement. I stopped because it is only about 30 miles from Yosemite, and has electric and water ? unlike anything in the actual park.

It was a bit spooky at first, is it is a fairground, and VERY dark. A little hard to find the entrance for the park, and the lots. I highly recommend getting there when it is still light. Good 30 amp and water. There is a dump near "lot five." Great place to see stars.

It was a bit usual for me, as all of the sites are in open lots. Three of the ones I saw (in the morning) were paved, and one was a grass "front lawn." They are enclosed with chain-link fences. There is a information kiosk when you drive into the fairgrounds. There is a map on the building, and envelopes in which you leave money.

I chose to stay in what was designated as "lot one." I picked it because it was close to the info kiosk, and had a streetlight in it. It was also where the county parks it's vehicles. The electric and water are in rows along both sides of the parking lots. You are intended to back up near them and plug-in. Being February, there was no one there, and I just parked along three of them, lengthwise.

I only saw two other vehicles all night. They pulled into the kiosk area, 50 yards away. They sat for a few minutes and left - possibly there for the cell signal, the only one for about a mile.

I spoke with a kind man in the morning (I assume, the manager). He informed me the area is very safe, and VERY busy during Yosemite's active seasons. He offered me the opportunity to drop my trailer, since I was only going into Yosemite for a day trip. (I am sure that option is not available during season.)

For Mariposa Fairgrounds State: After coming out of the Eastern Sierras through Yosemite we looked everywhere for a place to park our truck camper in the area. Nothing was found except high priced accommodations that were not worth the money. We finally drove into Mariposa and found this wonderful fairgrounds where we could park on grass and have full hookups, what a great surprise! B.t.w. dogs were welcome.
