For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: Most of what other reviews state is true… some of the amenities ‘are’ run down. We are 34-36’ and got into our site easy enough. The sewer access was uphill from other utilities. I just pull into an empty site when leaving and empty tanks. The sites ‘are’ a little close but with good neighbors (and a little management rule enforcement), it’s ok. Location is half of what you are paying for, ie. Just a 3 mile drive from Royal Gorge Bridge.

For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: “GRIM” is probably the best description of this KOA. Welcome to a super dust bowl with terrible amenities. I mean: there’s a pool and free mini golf, which is giving this a GENEROUS 2 Stars. The sites are terrible. I wish I could share the picture of the “tree” at my site which is a dead stump. The playground is probably out of code and the bridge to the “fun zone” probably has a troll under it waiting for billy goat to cross. This place is rundown city. Dog “park” is a tiny area of weird dirt/sand. For 60 bucks this was a rip off.

Raquel

For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: Average site. Dog park was nice but a small walk. Needed air while we were there and only air they had was at their shop with a too small of road so we had to go into town but not a big deal. Late night check in made a map of how to pull into our site easily. Sites were decent but not long. Sites were fairly wide compared to other places we’ve been. Had a picnic table and fire pit. No grass

For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: Great location. Close to Royal Gorge and a short drive from Cañon City. We had an end site with great views. However, we will not be staying here again. The entire campground smelled awful of sewage. The smell seemed to be the worst near the pool. The pool was not well maintained. The giant slide and go carts were never open when we tried to visit. They seemed to keep random hours. Staff seemed nice.

For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: We checked out the other 2 RV parks near the KOA. One was closed, one was dumpy. The KOA here has large, level sites that have been nicely maintained. All the utilities worked well. We enjoyed the open space and lovely views. The guy who checked us in was super friendly!

Marty

For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: Nice young lady greeted me at the front desk. Did not have maps and had to go back for WiFi code. Had a beautiful view of the RG bridge spires and across the valley. Gravel sites and "patio" which caused some problems for my leveling system. Not worth $62.50 per night. Pool already closed (August 17)

Honey House

For KOA Holiday Royal Gorge Canon City: Worst camping experience we've had to date.

We made our reservation online for one of their newly renovated sites. Our email confirmation promised views of the bridge, immaculate landscaping and brand new hookups. Upon arrival, we were told that there was actually a "glitch" in the computer reservation system and that we had somehow only reserved a standard site. Since all of the new sites were full, we had no choice than to take what they had.

We went to our spot and spent a while positioning and leveling our camper since our neighbors had hooked up to our assigned septic and power (forcing us to move to the very end of our site). Once that was complete we went to hookup our power....only to realize that we only had 30amp.

After speaking with a manager, we were told that our neighbors had used our 50amp hookup and if we wanted/needed 50amp then we could gladly move to another spot (because our neighbors had already been there for a day). At this point my husband asked for a refund and we left.

I would discourage anyone from wasting their time at this place. It's definitely in a prime spot with great views, but not nearly worth all of the hassle.
