For KOA Journey Salida: Our stay was going well and management was very friendly. Unfortunately on our last evening we started to notice sewage seeping from our sewer inlet. We hadn’t dumped our entire stay so it was coming from other trailers uphill from us. Management immediately came out to try to remedy but unfortunately a River of sewage ensued through the next morning until we checked out. Grossest camping experience ever. I’m sure they will get it fixed but we will take a pass on staying here again. Ask for a site uphill if you do stay here.

For KOA Journey Salida: So it is now a KOA. Big Whoopi. We were first here twenty-five years ago and the only investment the owners have put into it is new “KOA†signs. The pool is empty and abandoned. In the evening, there was waste water coming up from around a manhole cover. At one time, someone tried to make it a four season campground by encasing the water spigots in PVC pipe, insulation and topping it off with either a “ Home Depot†or a “Murdocks†bucket which are scattered whichever the wind blows. Lawn mowers abandoned in mid project. Indoor couch as lawn furniture. Poor water pressure. Dry and dusty. Fences in disrepair. Trash and construction debris about. The ONLY reason to stay here is for the 30 amp power to run your air conditioning. Didn’t go into the bathhouse or laundry for fear of catching COVID 19. Desperate? Drive another 15 minutes east to Walmart

For KOA Journey Salida: This is a new KOA, which took us by surprise ($55.00 per night) Host said there’s one price for reservations and higher price for walk-ins. .We tried to make a reservation in the morning but had no cell coverage while driving. We stayed anyway because we needed a rest. The facilities were surprisingly nice upon close inspection especially the laundry facilities.(See amenities) The sites have plenty of room between and are pretty level even though nothing is paved; the rows between are pretty tight turns for larger coaches. We’re in a class A 38’ coach with a toad. Although the highway is within sight, it was still quiet all night even with the windows open. We were here Sept 4th, 2019 and the RV area was only about 1/3 full. The large tenting area had one tent. Definitely not a destination campground unless you want to sit around a campfire a lot or hike, but great for a quiet, restful time. Two hours from Colorado Springs. Gloria & Steve
