For Black Rock State Park: Upsetting situations recently at Black Rock make it uncomfortable to feel safe and happy for camping and enjoyable for everyone.

For Black Rock State Park: April 2014: Once again the camping season is finally here and I have great things to say about Black Rock Satte Campground in Watertown, CT. Right now it is only open for weekend camping but the park is available for walking, picnicking, hiking, photography and just enjoying the great outdoors. I have already met some great fellow campers and fisher people and have seen some of my old camping friends and staff people from last year. The office staff and mantainance crew have been friendly, helpful and working hard at providing good customer service. Ranger Tom is back which is very good since he is a very dedicated, kind, helpful and knowledgeable ranger! I have been camping at Black ROck for many years and always apprecaite the fact that rangers, like Tom, are diligent about trying to provide a pleasant, safe enjoyable camping expieierence for everyone as well as mantaining the safety and well being of everyone at the park. Ranger Rich has been back once so far and he is very polite and diligent in picking up carelessly tossed debris as well during his park rounds. The campground has shady spots with beautiful trees and open flat sites for easy pulling in and exiting for those with pop ups and RV type vehicles. The park has a wonderful nature environment and philosophy, which I always truly enjoy. Please remember that the park is a STATE regulated alcohol free park, established to protect the well being, enjoyment and safety of all who come to visit, fish and camp. The rangers are dedicated trying to make sure that is the case when doing their job in assuring that. Most responsible, mature campers truly apprecate their efforts and enjoy their stays more because of it.

For Black Rock State Park: Black ROCK STATE PARK is a very nice campground. Many improvements have been made over the last several years and a great deal of effort is expended by the staff and the rangers to make it an enjoyable, safe, family oriented state campground. I have seen the rangers help clean up carelessly tossed debris, have seen them assist an injured camper, help get campers on sites and inquire about the well being of fellow campers. I have seen them explain the reasons behind the camping rules, help out with fishing skills, respond quickly to emergency situations that arise and stay late to assure people are ok and safe. I know the rangers and staff try very hard to make it an enjoyable and SAFE place for children and families!
