For Florida Caverns State Park: bugs, bugs, bugs....not worth it! So much standing water in the woods.

Cici

For Florida Caverns State Park: This state park is beautiful. Lush, heavily wooded, lots of greenery and wildlife (including spiders as big as my hand with gigantic webs stretching across trails) We stayed overnight- called ahead while on the road and they had vacancies. You have to make it there before 6pm to check in, no same day reservations or after hours check in. Full hook ups- no pull through - back in only 30, 50 amp or 120 v- power hook ups fairly new although the breaker was out on ours however we were allowed to use the one next to us and they replaced the breaker first thing the next morning. Clearly marked trails, beware of gators signs are up even in the swimming area. Personally we didn't feel comfortable swimming in the murky gator water but it was absolutely beautiful and serene. In one part of the trail you hear no sounds EXCEPT nature around you- very nice. Road to and from campsite a little sketchy due to them updating the roads- at one point the left side of the road was completely gone but was clearly marked with a generous firm shoulder on the right as well as a crew of 5 workers to guide us through. Extremely polite, informed and responsive. Huge bathhouse, very clean although older, laundry area, no ice but vending machines. Spacious campsite, fire ring, picnic table under a beautiful canopy of trees. Well worth the $20/night

Chris

For Florida Caverns State Park: Nice campground, very lush and green. Sandy spots so bring a mat or rug with you so you don't track it in. The caverns are VERY cool so take the tour.

Melody

For Florida Caverns State Park: This was an absolutely enjoyable campground. It is deep in the woods away from strip malls and highway traffic. The sites are spacious and all hookups worked fine. There are picnic tables, fire rings, and barbecues at each site. Two handicapped sites near the bath house are all concrete with sidewalks direct to the bath house. Lots of hiking trails are available and a summing area is provided for campers. The Florida Caverns are close by but not much else. A historic walking tour in Marianna does not include entrance to the old houses. There is no internet access and the cell phone gets poor signal so take away half a star if you're a full timer and depend on wifi to bank and get mail. You need to be in no later than 6 p.m. as they close the gates.

Sachmo

For Florida Caverns State Park: Campground is well-maintained with level sites. Lots of trees. This park has a lot to offer. The caverns are great. Good trails for foot hike, bike hiking or horseback riding. Jackson County Florida is very historic with lots to see.

For Florida Caverns State Park: Big sites. Very clean bath houses. The main road to the campgrounds was good except for a few rough area. Saw a gator in the swamp area/River on the way to the site. Overall it's a nice park, BUT, bring the mosquito spray! The bugs were terrible. We stopped for the night on the way to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Don't care to stop again. I felt like Humphrey Bogart in 'African Queen' with the mosquitoes flying around. But then again, the park is surrounded by a old Florida swamp/River. I should of known better. Cell coverage was 2 dot LTE. Five tv stations with small had antenna. Site 16 has been upgraded to crushed gravel.

mmboyd

For Florida Caverns State Park: So far the best state park campground we have stayed at. All sites are large enough for big rigs are level with full hookups.
