For Big Flats - Myakka River State Park: CAMP HERE!!!!best park in Florida. Must check out the canopy walk tower, birding is spectacular, gators everywhere, cafe with friendly staff, and clean bathrooms. The campground farther from the ranger station gets a spectacular sunset over a grassland.

For Big Flats - Myakka River State Park: Stayed here mid-March 2019. This is a beautiful park. We stayed at the Big Flats campground, where we had a water/electric site. The site was semi-private and covered by trees. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The location of our site was perfect for walking or cycling to all areas of the park. My husband rented a kayak and paddled around a lot of alligators, which he loved. My only problem was the bugs at night, so we came in just beyond dusk every evening. But, it's Florida.

For Big Flats - Myakka River State Park: This is a BEAUTIFUL park with a 14 mile bike ride from gate to gate. There are many beautiful trails. I gave it 3 stars because I stayed in mud flats camping area which to look at is fine, and the bathrooms are fine... HOWEVER @ 6:23 every morning a very very loud generator comes on in the service area next to camp ground. I really feel sorry for those right next to it. It vibrates and is noisy ALL DAY TILL SUNSET. sunrise is not for an hour and it is on. The park is huge you would think they could put that noise away from people or house it in.... I will not stay in mud flats again because of it. It is a real drag to have that noise starting at 6:23 AM ALL DAY! I don't know about the other two camping areas.

For Big Flats - Myakka River State Park: Great park. I made it a point to stay in the nicer section and I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of wild life. We saw pigs, deer, wild turkeys, snakes, birds, hawks and an owl our last night. Wife loved it. Lots of bike trails. We went 20 miles the first day and it was mostly road. The back roads were wet but passable on some paths. They even have a pavilion with food and beer. Loved it.
