For Highlands Hammock State Park: Although the campground was full and pretty tightly packed, it was beautiful and well kept. A nice hike was available nearby. The walking trails are a good walk or bike ride away, or a short drive, but the scenery is very interesting and varied. I would recommend two nights here to take full advantage of the interesting site.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: All the sites are way too small and too close. If you are in anything longer than 17 foot, you will be providing entertainment for all your new, very close neighbors while you back in. We watched one hit a picnic table, another I had to stop before he hit the tree next to our camper and we had to move our truck from our site for another to get out. Every day that we have been here (leaving early) maintenance people have been running chainsaws and heavy equipment all day, all around us. The trails are nice but you'll have a better stay in a busy Wal-Mart parking lot. If you come anyway, bring lots of extra extention cord, water hose and ear plugs. They should be advising campers about this stuff when making reservations.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Sites very close together with no privacy ( like a private campground, not a state park)Odd hookups. Stars are for the hiking trails

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Really nice park $24 a night e&w . Sites need more visible numbers , and grass needs mowed. One of the 3 bathrooms were closed. Large sites and private.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Fabulous trails!! Enjoyed hiking/biking. Wonderful naturalist led tour (led by volunteers) on Cypress trail was a highlight!! Wooded sites. Clean, but old & small, bathhouses.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: One of the nicest state parks. So much to do there. Canoe, kayak rentals. Great biking. Beautiful trails. Site are very nice. We have been back numerous times. Definitely recommend it. Fun to bike around the tar circle and stop at numerous beautiful walking trails. Even in the summer.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Let me first say I'm happy to have a place to park the Chinook on short notice but this isn't what other Florida State Parks are like. The sites are so close to each other ( compared to other SP's) there's very little privacy and the water/electric are either at the site entrance or way in the back of the site. Weird. I've never seen hookups located in such awkward places. Plenty of shower houses. Older but in decent shape. One dump station for the whole park! Good roads inside and outside of the park. Friendly staff. I probably won't return but others appear to enjoy the place.
