For Faver-Dykes State Park: Cell service has improved since we were here 2 yrs ago. Verizon very strong, ATT strong enough to stream a movie.

For Faver-Dykes State Park: We arrived the day the park re-opened after they closed to refurbish the bathrooms. The new bathrooms were very nice. I didn’t know about the ticks until we got there and my husband found 3 on him within the first day. I would definitely not bring a pet here. Other than that it is a nice small campground off the beaten path (don’t count on cell service). The sites are sand with electric and water. They are spacious and private with lovely vegetation surrounding. I probably won’t stay here again because of the ticks and lack of cell coverage but if you’re looking for someplace to get away from it all, this is for you.

For Faver-Dykes State Park: This is a very pretty park, sites are private with nice wooded areas. Not sure how I missed the fact there is no sewer ?.
The showers are literally something out of a horror movie. Literally. I'm a never go without your flip-flops kind of person that can take a shower just about anywhere but these were bad.
Now let's talk about the ticks, I live in the country, I live on a farm I understand ticks are a part of life in the woods, but the issue here is an infestation not just your normal camping life. I pulled 30 ticks off of myself in the first 24 hours, over 35 bites. I was working so gone during the day, called the office to see if they would spray the site, their recommendation was for me to go to the hardware store and get my own tick spray and spray the site.
Here's my thoughts about that, in this day and age of lawsuits and my abundance of Lonestar ticks and deer ticks that were discovered how is it that they don't see this as being their problem? Also, they comb the site when you leave how hard is it for them just to spray it when they do it as well? And finally, you're a state park here to preserve the environment and yet your recommendation is for any Joe blow just come spray any kind of chemicals on your sites that they choose?
Hey whatever, moral of the story is the only way I would stay here again was if I absolutely had to

For Faver-Dykes State Park: We stayed in 22 states, including Alaska, and Canada. This was one of our favorite campgrounds. The Rangers were wonderful and helpful and we got to know them. We went canoeing in the creek. The other campers were very nice and everyone was relaxed. Lots of wildlife, we had an armadillo in our Campground. Less than 5 miles from civilization. Enjoy if you go there. We did.

For Faver-Dykes State Park: Nice rustic campground. It is about 20 minutes to Saint Augustine in 20 minutes to Fort Matanzas nice location to visit both on day trips.

the road back to the campground was smooth and we are on a motorcycle so that was important to us.

Showers were clean and convenient.

For Faver-Dykes State Park: We had advance warning about the ticks so that was not a surprise, we had treated our dogs and brought big spray. The area is very beautiful and quiet. The entrance is less than 5 miles from I-95. The kayaking was calm and peaceful in the creek, no dogs in the boats since there are alligators. We saw shrimp hopping in the creeks which was neat.
The road to the campsites is very bumpy and better in a truck, potholes fill with water during rainstorms. We enjoyed our stay, other campers were respectful. There is electric and water at each sandy site but no sewer so you dump by the bathhouse.

For Faver-Dykes State Park: Stayed here in June of 2014. Park is very rustic the mile and a half of dirt road leading to the campgrounds is rough and a quagmire when it rains. Facilities O.K. went fishing and the dock in the pavilion is good. Then there are the ticks. Trails are heavily infested, at one time I had probably 30 of them on my socks. And had to brush them off every 20 or 30 yards till I got back to the rangers station. Then again it was cheap and close to St Augustine. Was glad to get out of there and head to another park.
