For Camp Venice Retreat: Old world Florida charm. Not for people who need concrete on there campsites. But the river, trees, spacious sites, and quiet were a wonderful surprise. Mostly adults so quiet. Near a great famous outdoor restaurant named snook haven with live music daily. Almost every site is a good site. Will be back. Friendly staff.

For Camp Venice Retreat: We stayed her for 3 weeks in our 33 Ft. 5th wheel from 1/30/22 - 2/19/22. We were staying here due to friends in the area. This park is close to Venice, North Port, Sarasota and the gulf beaches (7 miles). After some initial disappointment at the looks of the place we soon changed our opinion. This park is very quiet in the evening, no loud parties, excessive drinking, loud music, etc. This park is very well maintained, maintenance personnel are around every day picking up fallen sticks and limbs, palm fronds, etc., they also pick up your trash if you leave it next to the road. Office personnel were pleasant and helpful. The bathhouse is dated but clean. There are 3 washers and dryers, all worked well. The pool is heated and clean. The park put on a Rib BBQ during our stay although we didn’t attend due to a previous commitment with friends. We had rain 1 night during our stay. The next morning park employees were regrading and smoothing the road (which wasn’t rough or potholed to begin with). We didn’t experience excessive dust during our stay contrary to a previous review. The Wi-Fi is blazingly fast - seriously. We had no trouble streaming movies and TV shows, checking email, and other internet activities. The only negative is the road (Venice Ave) that accesses the park, it’s more like a road in a third world country - narrow, rough, pot holed. However, there is sufficient clearance for any rig and as long as you take it slow (10 mph) you’ll be fine. We liked this park so well that we’re staying next year for 2 or 3 months.

For Camp Venice Retreat: What a lovely surprise. Well maintained. Directions were great. If you are looking for a place to relax, kick back, with full service and a with a tree canopy, this is it. Quiet.

For Camp Venice Retreat: I have to agree that there is MUCH room for improvement at this camp. First of all, your GPS/Garmin navigation will try to take you to the end of the road. DO NOT DO THIS. There is a sign for the camp on this road, but it does not tell you which of the three or four options you are supposed to take. It appears that you should go straight, as this is the largest road. DO NOT DO THIS. When you see that second sign, take a hard right. If you miss it, and go straight, be prepared for your Class A motorhome to get stuck under a tree and scrape up the top of your rig and rip your awning. Trust me on that one. Next, when you do manage to unhook your toad, and turn your rig around in the parking lot of the restaurant at the end of the street, and arrive at the gates; no one is there. Door locked, no one around. I sat there at the gate for a good while before one of the campers offered to help me get in the gate and find my spot. Multiple calls to the office went straight to voicemail and were never returned. Now let's talk about the dust. (I know some people have been here during rain and mentioned the pot holes and mud....) yes, all true, but if it hasn't rained in a while, they do not water or oil the dirt roads. There is dust blowing EVERYWHERE. Everyone's rigs are covered in dust. Everyone's tents are covered in dust. The picnic tables, the food, the bikes..... EVERYTHING. Don't even think about sitting outside..... you will be caked in dust within minutes. There are also the dangerously low tree limbs as others have mentioned..... Also, the park map is not accurate..... it needs to be re-drawn with all the streets in the correct locations. Also, there are street names on the map, but none on the actual streets.... no way to tell what street you are on. Also, no indication of which way you must enter your street to have your rig face the right direction. (Normally most places draw a line from the gate to the spot so you can see how to approach). I did it wrong and had to circle around the unnamed streets till I was facing the right way. All this could have been avoided with better management.... or ANY management... still have yet to see any staff at all. Will update after I've been here a few days.

For Camp Venice Retreat: Beautiful rural, "old Florida" type setting with big Oak trees, lots of wildlife, on the river. Roads are dirt and gravel. Sites grass-gravel. Access to park is challenging: dirt road, can be very rough after a lot of rain and impassable in the rainy season until county scrapes and fills, has low over hanging limbs. Staff is very helpful, attentive to problems in the park. Park water doesn't taste great: limes up fixtures. Park is not on city systems: has own treatment facility: well maintained. Some well kept park models. Pool is beautifully maintained. Season long timers can be socially loud for a short time during 4pm happy hour , but park is very quiet afterward. Many big rig sites. Wifi works well, after seasonal crowd heads north and not so many pulling from it. Those with satellite systems will have a challenge getting signal through some sites with trees. CP service can go down in area. Bathrooms are older buildings: fairly clean. Laundry: machines worked very well. We will return, but leave before the rains begin end of April. Stayed Jan-June, 35ft MH.
