For Chehaw Park Campground: Perfect overnight stay as we head south to Florida for the winter. We are traveling in a 35’ Class A with tow. We did not make a reservation but next year we will as the gate closes at 6pm. We arrived after the office had closed and the gate was shut. We were very fortunate that an employee was leaving as we arrived, opened the gate and called ahead to the office letting them know we needed a spot for the night. We were so impressed with their hospitality and willingness to assist us after hours and wanting to leave work for the day. The campground host showed us to our site which was a pull through and no need to unhook the jeep for the night. Very quiet, peacefull and beautiful park. This will be our go to stop as we head south to Florida for the winter each year!

For Chehaw Park Campground: Large open area with widely spaced pines and oaks. I didn’t check every pedestal but all I noticed in my immediate area was 50 amp and 20 amp. Pedestal voltageWas on the money and the receptacles were not damaged or burned up. We didn’t use the bathrooms so I can’t comment on that. Camp posts were very friendly. You absolutely can hear the highway from the RV sites. Maybe, just maybe not so much from tent sites. Bring your bug spray or Thermacell for the no seeums. As I was entering the park I did hear a train coming through nearby. Can’t tell you how frequently it runs. Overall, a nice campground.

For Chehaw Park Campground: Chehaw is an awesome place!! I stayed here for about a month. Yes there is some road noise. Yes bathrooms are older but, They are clean! Bugs are bugs you can’t keep Them out 24/7 unless someone lives in the bathrooms. Sites are very spacious! Some are full hook ups some are partial. Some long term people here but, My understanding is They are no longer allowed to be long term as of this year so apprently some are gone and others have a certain amount of time to move out. There is a great tenting area that has water and electric for each site. All are very reasonably priced. Very nice host on site 1. Free wood (pine). The zoo is a wonderful little zoo that was hit hard by a hurricane and is being worked on now. Several new enclosures being built for some animals that havnt been on public display since the storm. Upgrading has begun for much of the park as a whole but, financing and work all takes time. Lots to do with bike trails, R/C track, playground etc... The BMX park is no longer in use (because no volunteers to run it) It would need a whole new track. Overall Chehaw is a wonderful beautiful park! There are also picnic shelters you can rent or They are on 1st come bases. Please be responsible and watch your kids teach Them to leave a place cleaner then how They found it. Please No balloons, confetti or anything’s of that sort in the park! They make a mess and are bad for animals!! I saw a lot of little shiny pieces of stuff a little bigger than confetti and it’s impossable for staff to clean up a mess like that when it’s all in the grass and leaves. Be responsible and clean up after yourselves to help keep this park a GEM!! I will return again some day and hope to see more improvements!!

Lakeside Terri

For Chehaw Park Campground: We had a lovely two nights here. The camp host met us at the campground entrance and led us back to our site (14b). We had a large, treed, pull through site with electric and water for $20 a night. We were not on concrete and pulling through involved going through a spacious though lightly treed grassy area to pull out. The road seemed fine to us, though it was graded by park personnel while we were there. The campground is less than a few minutes walk from a very large playground with lots in it, disc golf, and a small accredited zoo. A few minutes further was a Bmx track and a radio controlled car hilly race track. We didn’t use bathrooms or laundry. They were older and very clean.

For Chehaw Park Campground: We were just at Chehaw and can tell you I would never stay there again! This place is NOTHING like what is represented online. The grass was knee high in the campground when we arrived and not cut the four days were there. The shower was filthy and had live bugs crawling in it. Paint peeling off of bathhouse with mold everywhere. Several full time residents live there with trash piled around their sites. I had to put on gloves to pull poison ivy off stand to hook up water and electric. Worst place ever! I have pictures I wish I could post to show how bad it is!

For Chehaw Park Campground: I don't know why the previous individual was complaining. This is not a bad campground. The roadways are not paved but the campground is no where near the highway. There are lots of trees and the sites are very spacious. The bathhouse is old but clean and they have full hookups. There are laundry machines to use. A good dal for $20 a night.

MB

For Chehaw Park Campground: This campground is the worst I've seen in this 3500 mile trip! It just so happens to be the last night before we arrive home. The sites are in the middle of a piece of land, in the dirt, and some grass. It's about 100 yds from the highway, and very dusty. The bathrooms are run down and there aren't even any entry doors! If you plan on showering after dark, I'd make sure you have someone to watch for you. Poor, poor campground! Very disappointed! We are traveling in a 32' motorhome. Oh,and no they don't have wifi.
