For Pilot Knob State Park: Beautiful quiet campground. Very clean and helpful hosts. Brand new fire pit that are excellent. Be sure to go see the observation tower in the park. It’s the highest point in Iowa and you can see 360° on a clear day! It was built in the 30s and very worthy of a short hike.

South Dakota Explore
For Pilot Knob State Park: A decent little park, suitable for a quiet relaxing break.
PROS;
1. A lot of Mature trees provide ample shade on almost every site.
2. Large playground for the kids in great shape and eye shot of almost every site.
3. Clean shower house and bathroom facilities close by.
4. Great tent sites for you tent campers.
5. Almost all sites have at least 30 amp service.
6. Water outlets are scattered throughout campground.
7. Cell coverage is adequate (2 bars of Verizon 3G as of 2017)
8. Many pull through sites.
9. $16 a night is worth it.
10. Very well maintained dump station with potable water also.
CONS;
1. These sites can be a bit tight because of the many mature trees. Big rigs can fit, but be careful.
2. The sites are decent but hardly level, so you will have to level out when you get here. Some can get muddy after the rain.
3. No restaurants anywhere close by.
4. The sites are a little close with large gravel pads.
BOTTOM LINE;
I would definitely stay here again for $16. It was quiet and shady with many hiking trails near by. Fire rings at every site and shower facilities within a stones throw. This is an older State Park campground and the electric Circuit breaker popped on us while operating both AC units, so we just used one during our stay. The campground is about 4 miles from Forest City.
