For Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area: This place is the most well spent $20 on our cross country trip on our 24’ RV. No hassle check in without a reservation on a Friday night. Lake side site, super relaxing. Will return.

For Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area: This is our local campground. About 20 minutes from home. Been staying here since I was a kid.

Nice large sites. Awesome views of the lake. Campground is mostly flat go easy bike riding especially with kids.

Sites are all paved and have a table and fire ring. No rock or Concrete patio though so beware if it's been raining.

Biggest issue is upkeep on the shower/bath facilities. It's a state run park so no money has been spent on this place in a long time. The showers work and all but are just dated and not so clean. If your used to federal parks this will be a step down for you in terms of facilities, but if your Rv camping you probably won't care anyway.

Nice playground and b-ball court a little ways away from the sites and has a boat ramp for the lake.

All sites are first come first served which is a bonus around the holidays. Federal sites in this area are booked full for holidays 6 months in advance. You can almost always get a spot here up until 2-3 days before the holiday. We go about 5 days before a holiday and get our pick of sites. Be warned though, rates are $20 a night normally but $30 a night on holiday weekends.

For Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area: Really big campground. nice sides all concrete and most of them level. grill and table by the side and all powered. view from some of them is gorgeous. lake is beautiful. restrooms so so and showers with cold/hot water :) but it was ok for $20

For Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area: This state park is an excellent overnight stop. $20 for a level and deep spot - a bonus not to have to drop our Airstream. Within 2 miles of 57 south. Electric only, with dump site as you exit. Bath house was mediocre. Happy trails!
