For Michigan City Campground: Michigan City Campground I was nervous to stay at this campground after reading the reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with this campground. The campground is well laid out and the sites are wide. Our site was a short site because we have a small trailer, but it was so wide. It felt like we had a yard of our own. We were not on top of our neighbor. The hookups were in great shape and easy to access. The setting of the campground is beautiful. There are two ponds, one with a fountain and fish. The grounds are well maintained, green and beautiful. We enjoyed walking around the campground. The locals tell me it was a former KOA so it is laid out well. The pool is beautiful and big and laundry room was nice and clean with extra-large capacity machines. The store has lots of standard supplies and even soft serve ice cream. We forgot ketchup and soap so it was handy to have it there. There is a fenced in dog park, nice outdoor pavilion with benches. On the Sat night we were there, they had a BBQ food truck there for the campers. Negatives: Ok, so the smell people have mentioned in their reviews is present. It seems to be in the area near the trash dumpster at the front and the dump station. These 2 things are right next to each other and there was a noticeable smell of rancid trash or perhaps a sewage smell. It only really impacts the few sites around that area. The closest site to them both is a seasonal, so you don’t have to worry about that. It might impact some of the tent sites at the front of the park. If you ask for any site on the right-hand side of the park or in the back, you will be fine. The only recommendation we have for the campground is that they need more dumpsters. Perhaps this is why there is a smell. We noticed the dumpster being emptied on Sat. morning, but by Sunday morning the dumpster was full and overflowing. A second dumpster would probably make a big difference. Honestly, do not be afraid to stay here. It was clean and very pleasant. One of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in. This area has few campgrounds when the state and national parks are full, so this one is a great option and not too far from the eastern end of Indiana Dunes. It is only a few miles to Pinhook Bog which is a must see if you visit the park.

For Michigan City Campground: All and all very nice as a base location. Good WiFi, clean, easy to get in and out, good water pressure, decent pool and playground. Ice cream at the store is always fun. My biggest issue is that the sites near the office are small and packed tightly, with no shade. The ones further away seem more specious and shady but we’re all booked when we came in (though I haven’t seen them fill up yet...)

Just a camper

For Michigan City Campground: Typical trailer campground with a lot of seasonal. We stayed here only because the national park campground was full. The site was nice, but noisy.. Bathhouse was old, lousy shower and no toilet paper in the morning. 1 bar LTE. I thought it was expensive for what it was.

For Michigan City Campground: Very nice little campground close to the Indiana Dunes. We “walked in” for an overnight stay and they were more than accommodating. Full hookups are easily accessible. The grounds are neatly kept. Swimming pool is very nice and heated so the kids will enjoy the swim. This campground is mostly seasonals but everyone we met was friendly. WiFi was good in the morning but poor in the evening. Prob just a bandwidth issue. Cell service (Verizon) is good. I’d definitely recommend this place for an overnight or longer.

For Michigan City Campground: This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in as full timers for five years now. The sites are roomy. Interiors roads and campsites are hard pack gravel. Each site has a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. The grounds are very clean and well groomed. Permanent residents keep their sites in good condition. The heated pool is a good size. The dog park was a good size and kept clean (the bag dispenser was empty). All hookups worked fine and the WiFi was outstanding. There are about ten OTA tv channels of good reception. My only complaint would be that the fire ring needs to be cleaned out. People have dumped plastic and other garbage in it.
