For KOA Journey Calvert City: We have been full-timing for 13 years and have stayed at our fair share of KOA’s (we use military, Elks & private also) and this is the best by far!
It has been under new ownership for a year and a half and it’s obvious they take great pride in their campground. The sites are fully traveled, about 10 are pull-throughs for overnighters. Nice dog park, pool, laundry and showers. One of the camp hosts said they are going to stay open for the winter but you need to be self-contained. Staff is super nice and helpful....if you’re looking for a KOA with all the “bells & whistles†for kids, they don’t have those things but we will definitely stay here again!

For KOA Journey Calvert City: This was a very nice KOA. We stopped in for one night on our way out west. I was concerned after reading another review so we drove by instead of booking online. The staff was extremely friendly and the location is lovely with s couple of ponds and they have a new dog park. Spots are gravel but fairly level. Hooks ups are clean and in good shape. Spots are side by side by side like most KOAs but since there are hills have some stair stap height difference. The pool was open and clean as were the showers. I would definitely recommend for an overnight stay.

For KOA Journey Calvert City: Just checked into this RV park not an hour ago and contemplating leaving already. I paid through the KOA app for a full hook up 30/20 amp site, I arrive and they alerted me that they had no full hook up sites available and they "upgraded" me to a 50/30 amp with power and water only. I let them know this wasn't acceptable as I needed and paid for sewer for a reason, as we have a new born and need to keep all his bottles clean and sanitized. He asked why can't I just use my holding tanks at which point I let him know yes I do but they are not empty as I expected to have full hookups. He told me I can take my newborn across the campground in the 104 degree heat to the showers and carry all my dishes to their laundry facility and use the sink in their during their open hours to clean baby bottles. I told him that's not acceptable with this heat and what I paid. The new owner Bruce told me the site I was provided was the same price as a full hookup and wouldn't refund any $. I pushed for the full hook up site at which point the owner told me I didn't pay for full hookups but I clearly had the KOA app reservation showing the purchase of just that. He proceeds to yell at me in the office asking what I expect him to do "shit out a sewer hookup for me?" At which point he lets me knows he has a much less desired site but has the full hookups. The site is extremely unlevel but I just wanted what I paid for, he proceeds to yell at myself and my spouse while trying to set up on why he didn't put us in the site and he was "doing us a favor". He says he just bought this park in January and clearly doesn't know what he's doing. He also told us that us "young people" aren't understanding although we are full time RV-ers and workampers, he stated he didn't want young people staying here so younger crowd of 30 and under beware!!! About 30 minutes later after yelling at us he decides to week wack right around our site on purpose to have rocks hit our RV. My husband goes out to ask him to stop and the owner moves closer to our RV with the week wacker saying he'll stop. This is unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from the owner, I don't recommend staying here.

For KOA Journey Calvert City: The site is beautiful, with flowering perennials planted throughout. There are a set of big rig sites on the top of the hill overlooking the lake, and they are closest to the pool, laundry, etc. Then the backside of the hill is a beautiful glen with pull through sites terraced into the hillside. The glen is fairly steep and the sites are at various amounts of level and my EMS cut off the electricity and said ground fault shortly before I was leaving anyway. But it was so lovely I stayed twice as long as I had originally been planning.
The owners have owned the place for a very long time and perhaps need some help. If you need something like propane you need to plan ahead (like start talking to them about a time a day or two ahead) and pack your patience.

For KOA Journey Calvert City: Sad old small hilly KOA. Beyond me how it could be part of the KOA franchise. Guided me to a sloping site I couldn't even block up to level. Didn't bother hooking up to sewer since the holding tanks wouldn't even drain completely. Long grass not suitable to walk my little doggies. Garbage dumpster stunk. Glad I was only overnight ing it.

For KOA Journey Calvert City: Passing through. Owners very nice. We arrived late (1030) and they called as we were on our way. They showed us our site. Only negative was electric box at my site was sputtering with obvious loose connection inside. Enough empty sites so I just stretched cord to unoccupied site next door. Would use again.
