For Moak Lodge and Campground: We were looking for a place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on a Friday night in early June in our 8 meter (25 foot) MH.
There are 3 CGs advertised in the general area: Moak, Cooks and Hobbs. There were hard to find. About 12 km north of Grand Rapids, take a left on North Cross Bay Road which is dirt and can be muddy after rain. After about 3 km, there is a T intersection. Signs point to the left for Cooks. We could not find a CG, yet we found a truck with Cooks CG painted on the side in the area. Back at the T intersection, signs point to the right for Moak and Hobbs. We went to Moak and there were no sites available. Most sites are for seasonal campers and they only had 3 transient sites which were full. They suggested we try Hobbs which is quite close by and well signed. Hobbs had 1 site left. We stayed at Hobbs.
Hobbs Resort is an active fishing/hunting camp and small, pleasantly rustic campground. Gareth, the owner, was pleasant and helpful. There are 18 sites, 8 with electric. Some sites are right on the lake, none are more than a short walk away. We were in site #19 which was a good size for our MH and had a beautiful view of the lake. Some sites were smaller. A small number of sites were larger. Most sites were level or required a bit of leveling. Most were gravel/grass. The electric is 15 or 30 amp. The posts are not situated at every site, so we needed 2 extension cords to reach the post assigned to our site. There is no cell service. The owner said there was free wifi and a cell booster at the office, which we did not use.
