For Turtle Lake Campgrounds: We visited in late May 2020. COVID-19 rules were in effect so the bathhouse, office and camp store were closed. Camp Manager was onsite and very accommodating. The Campground is on a small quiet lake with cottages and a State Access site for small motorboats/kayaks. We spent time paddle boarding and floating(tubes) on the lake. The lake water was clear but the bottom around our entry point was mucky. Did not take advantage of small beach area as it was roped-off due to COVID-19. Many lakefront campsites and ALL sites were spacious. Many friendly seasonal campers and a lot of nice sites available for transient campers. All sites had water, 50A power; sewer sites were also available. The campground was easy to navigate with my 35' 5th wheel large and had 2 dump stations. Only downside was dusty camp roads. Definitely on our list to re-visit in the future.

For Turtle Lake Campgrounds: We made reservation, sight unseen. But we were pleasantly surprised with all aspects of this campground. New electrical systems, new water and septic systems. Due to the recent expansion, experience one power outage on a very hot weekend. It lasted only a couple of hours as the local power company was aware of the added loads. The backstory regarding the recent development by the father and two daughters was very interesting. Their personal involvement and passion could be seen throughout the campground. Despite there being over 250 sites, we felt like we were in a small and personal campground with all the amenities. The sites were spacious. Since most of the sites are seasonal, we surmised that the neighbors are self-regulating which helps limit the noise and adherence to park rules. We stayed June 30 to July 4 and rarely heard fireworks which can be a blessing while camping. Plenty of good firewood to be purchased at $6 per generous bundle. For larger "bundles", they will deliver directly to the site. Biking: 8 miles to Thompsonville (Geno's barbecue and pizza). The road had a designated bike lane and was relatively flat. Thompsonville is just 2 miles from Crystal Mountain, where the summertime luge is open everyday. 8 miles to Interlochen Fine Arts Camp. relatively flat but no designated bike lane. All roads are rural and low traffic volumes.

For Turtle Lake Campgrounds: We stayed July 2015 and stayed for the first time. A great family owned campground. Very quiet with a private lake and mostly shaded camp sites. The bathhouse was brand new in 2015 and super nice and clean. Will stay here again when in the Traverse City area.
