Sandy
For Van Buren State Park: We stayed at VanBuren State Park for the first time and stayed one night. Staff was very friendly. Park was clean (except for the dog walk area, where campers were not considerate enough to clean up after their pets).
Not a lot of grass on site 142. Mostly grey sand. Showers had plenty of hot water.
We noticed on the way out that they had bike rentals.
I would go again.

Florida Streamers
For Van Buren State Park: We stayed at Van Buren campground for 3 nights and would stay here again if we return. Campground is very woodsy and most sites have lots of shade. Sites are relatively level and electric service was reliable. We are getting used to Michigan parks not having water at each site, but if you conserve your self-contained water and use the park's restroom and bathhouse, you can make it work. A short hike over the dunes and you are on the beach of Lake Michigan and gorgeous sunsets. Probably the only negative is the showers could be kept cleaner, and the dumpsters are way up front at the entrance . it is also adjacent to a nuclear powerhouse, so there was some noise from that. Otherwise a great place to stay.
