For Park Ridge - Lake Wappapello State Park: If you love to fish, this is the place for you. Huge reservoir with tons of Crappy. Sites are well spaced, level but with little shade. The roads are VERY steep but wide and well paved. The campground I stayed had a brand new shower house that could withstand a nuclear blast. All concrete construction and very clean. There are a few hiking trails and 16 mile Equestrian loop. It states that mountain biking is permitted on that loop but I doubt anyone has ridden on it. If you are hiking be sure to prepare for ticks. Mike the Campground Host was great.

For Park Ridge - Lake Wappapello State Park: Here on a Sunday night and have seen two other campers besides me so love the solitude tonight. However, that may be different on weekends because there are many sites with reserved signs on them but not occupied. There are signs on them them that state you can check to see if it’s available for the night. I think there are many more uneven sites than even because it’s very hilly here. Very woody so a definite plus there. I checked bathrooms and look decent. Nice host. There is a very steep hill coming in which I could only get up it at 25 mph with my 6cyl Edge with a towing package towing my 12 ft Tab. At first glance, it looks like the first hill on a roller coaster!

Lake view. Level sites.
Nice showers.
Great host.
