Happy Camper

For John W Kyle State Park: Large trees, lots of shade. Plenty of space between campers. Old and rundown. Paved, but we came after a heavy rain and lots of low spots in campground roads covered in standing water. No lighting to speak of. Very disappointed for a State Park.

David C

For John W Kyle State Park: Be sure you book a premium site or you'll be stuck in a run down part of the park. Site numbers are painted on the parking pads, hard to read some, can't see others. Really overgrown in some areas. Grass clippings are left all over the road and parking pads. Sewer drains on some sites are a long stretch from the pad. Water spigots are two to a pipe so some may be on the wrong side of the RV. Being an extra hose. Campground staff are very friendly. If you're in the premium site loop life is much better. Beautiful shaded spots covered by large oak trees. No fire rings but still have spots to burn a fire. Views of the lake are awesome! Not the best but probably not the worst

Notesoncamping

For John W Kyle State Park: The bad: Weeds overgrown picnic table area- large amounts of grass clippings all over spots. Lake flies are your second. No fire rings on most sites. The Sulfur smell from the lake is pretty strong. The good : Everyone was nice, helpful and respectful of noise.

Georgie n Me

For John W Kyle State Park: Quite peaceful and oh so relaxing! Georgie loved all the squirrels. Beautiful shaded spots. Garmin routed me up on the dam and then through a Golf course and I think I turned too early and got on a utility road! If you end up on the dam once you are across take a left down the hill no matter what Mrs Garmin says! Nice view on top of the dam though!

Shirley Newby

For John W Kyle State Park: We stayed 5 days in the middle of April. Quiet. The restroom and bath house were in good shape. Make sure you have that extra hose for water, the spigots are two to a stake, so one camper will be on the "wrong " side. The site was not quite big enough for the camper, next time I'll bring a bigger outdoor rug. Really a pretty place.

Johnson

For John W Kyle State Park: Comfortable state park. Some very uneven rv spots. Good bathhouse. Very quite. Lack of signs made it very difficult to find the campground. If a state park worker had not offered his help I don't know if we would have ever found it. They will deliver wood to your campsite.

Donna

For John W Kyle State Park: Camping area is nice and flat with beautiful oaks.

It is not shown in its correct location on the map. The campground is actually on the west side of the dam on highway 315 facing the lower lake on the west side of the large upper lake.
