For Red Cloud: We were looking for a place to stay in or near Nebraska National Forest/Chadron State Park that would be convenient to hiking trails. We're self contained and don't use facilities. We stayed on weeknights in mid-October in our 25 foot MH.
This is a very nice primitive campground, conveniently located for hiking, and a great price at $5/$2.50 seniors. There are 12 sites off a dirt road. One or 2 others were occupied during our stay. Most sites are back ins-that need some leveling. There's one pull through and at least 2 pull-overs. The length of the parking areas vary, yet most sites are good sized. Most are shady, most are relatively private. There is trash service and toilets. There's no water. There's no WiFi. There's weak reliable Verizon and strong intermittent ATT cell coverage. The CG is close to US-385 with some road noise. For more CG services, consider Chadron SP CG.
This CG is less than a mile from Chadron State Park which has many hiking trails as well as other amenities - tennis, frisbee golf, swimming, picnicking, horseback riding, etc. Its also less than 10 miles to 3 other trail heads, including those in Pine Ridge NRA. Chadron is 8 miles north of the CG.

For Red Cloud: Great spot, they have 13 sites, but only 2 would be considered good for class A or Class C RVs. We stayed in #11 in a 32 ft. Class C with a toad. We loved it there, but only needed one night.
