For Raton Pass Camp and Cafe: Unlike other reviewers, we are tent campers and will never stay here again - in spite of the fact that the staff were very friendly. The tent camping is behind and down the hill from the RV area. The dirt road leading down to the camping area is very steep and at the bottom is an open sticker-grass open area where you throw your tent anywhere. There is a single picnic table, no grill, no water. There are RVs stored in the same area. All of the RV campers on the back row of the hill top are directly above you. The only bathroom is up the very steep hill and when I showered the next morning, it flooded all three shower stalls and changing areas. Bad experience.

For Raton Pass Camp and Cafe: Stayed one night. Great view, clean, tight spots, friendly staff, easy on/off interstate. Will stop again on our next trip.

For Raton Pass Camp and Cafe: Really nice folks running this camp. It’s on two levels, the lower clustered around the office and former cafe, the upper level sites are along a second loop higher up. There’s tent camping in the back. The sites are pretty close together. No pool or other amenities, though the scenery is magnificent all by itself. The bathrooms are sparkling clean. Will definitely stay here again if we come this way.

For Raton Pass Camp and Cafe: We were here for a week in August 2017, great park, nice owners and wonderful scenery. We didn't use the laundry or bathroom facilities. I would definitely stay here again.

For Raton Pass Camp and Cafe: We stayed one night on our way to Colorado. Sites are close but being perched atop the hill is great. Little noise from hwy but the surrounding scenery and sunset is worth it. Level sites, good hookups, clean bathrooms and the camp host was helpful.

Generally quite and friendly people around. I prefer the top sites but if your last minute minute you may not get the best spot. Filled up the Friday evening we arrived

For Raton Pass Camp and Cafe: Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating: 5 stars
RV: 25' Motorhome with toad (42' overall). Didn't have to unhook the tow vehicle in space #2

3 week trip and this was one of our favorites. It's not a big, ol' resort...mostly over-nighters and short stays it seemed. I give this 5 stars in context with other spots in the region and for the obvious attention to detail and wonderful food. The owner was fantastic - she clearly puts forth a lot of effort and pride into her campground. It has that "personal touch". The rock gravel was firm and in perfect condition and it appeared she's made numerous improvements since taking over ownership in the recent past as the park seemed freshly spiffed up.

We intended to stay elsewhere and had put a deposit on another campground in the area, but after driving through it...we high-tailed it out of there. We cancelled that reservation and went online and found Raton Pass RV Park (formerly Cedar Rail). Luckily for us, we got the last pull-thru site! We arrived a bit past their hours, but the owner and her staff stayed to get us settled in. We were starving and tired and asked if the restaurant was open. It had just closed, but she offered to make us dinner and bring it to our site! She started reeling off her menu...lots of slow smoked meats, etc (definitely not for Vegans). The offerings were numerous, and it was hard to decide what to order. We had fantastic homemade lasagna, marinated chicken, white beans to die for, cole slaw, potato salad, rolls, tea, etc. I enjoy cooking and she is quite a cook. Nothing like a home cooked meal cooked and served by someone else! What service! They escorted us to our pull through site (#2), which was not next to anyone, but rather alongside the wide driveway area. Worked just great.

The campground is up on a hill with beautiful views and the sunset was stunning. The air crisp and clean. There is wifi, but we were strongly warned not to stream Netflix or download a bunch of stuff because she would know and cut us off. Fair enough. That was her only "thing". The campground is clearly a labor of her love...incredibly clean, spotless and level. The hookups were in great shape and well positioned. We intended to eat our meal outside and enjoy the sunset, but it was a bit chilly and windy, so we didn't take advantage of the picnic table. The bathrooms were spotless! I took advantage of the facilities, something I rarely do, and enjoyed a nice, long shower. The other campers were quiet and friendly. We walked around and enjoyed the views and cool air after driving through excessive heat the previous 3 days. This was "just an overnight", but it was such an oasis, we would have loved to stay longer. We would definitely stay at Raton Pass Camp again...for the ambiance, views, services, cleanliness, friendly owner/staff and amazing, homemade food. We spent $60 for our site and dinner for 2.
