For Mt Gilead State Park: Sites are small and close together. Full hookups are nice to have but you are on top of your neighbor campers. Clean, and staff is friendly. Entrance off of route 95 needs to be better marked. Nice park however camping is just too crowded together. I wouldn’t recommend anything larger than 25’

For Mt Gilead State Park: If you have little kids this is good, if not....
Tightest sites i have ever seen. Golf course across the street.

For Mt Gilead State Park: Most sites are tight and close to your neighbor. We stayed at #41 at the end which was private with a large lot next to the woods. It was electric only. Short walk to flush toilets and showers, which appears to be fairly new. Full hookup sites are new with concrete pad, but would be too right for my preference.

For Mt Gilead State Park: Just returned from two nights @Mt. G and our overall impression is not a good one. We were on site 56 which was electric only. This site was very small with a gravel area for either a vehicle or a camper/tent. Both would be very tight. There was no other available area anywhere near flat. While mowed, it was so hilly, a tent pitched anywhere other than the gravel pad was not doable.
The showers and restrooms were relatively nice and centrally located. They were heavily used. The "lake" is less than 200 acres in size and is not accessible by car from the campgrounds. Work on the shoreline is not completed and the water is really not accessible. We found an area to swim the dogs, but that's about it. All multi-use and hiking trails were closed with no explanation.
Finally, there are numerous pavilions, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, a corn hole area, disc golf, bird blind viewing area, a nature center (closed) and an amphitheater. These ranged from well kept to pretty beat up. Lasting impression...camp sites were the smallest we have ever seen at any state park. Not recommended.

For Mt Gilead State Park: Very nice small campground. Full service sites have level concrete pads. We camped on site 51, electric only. Adequately level. The maturing trees are evenly spaced as if they were planted. Grass and light leaf cover between trees. Just lovely and peaceful. Bathrooms were clean. There are many hiking trails in the woods. A bird observatory over a stream is a short trail walk. Entire camp was clean, quute a feat because the previous day was a special event weekend. This would be a great campground for a family get together. There are 2 small cabins to rent and a great playground. Construction on the lake dam continues. Expected completion in fall 2017.

For Mt Gilead State Park: The three stars for the review are strictly for the physical attributes of the sites in this campground. They are small, VERY close together, uneven, not paved, and even hilly. When we pulled in, our fire ring was located less than four feet from my neighbors camper. Needless to say, he was slightly nervous about us starting a campfire so we moved it. It was still only about 10 feet away at this point but it was our only option. There are a few paved (concrete) sites but I believe these are for ADA compliance. There is one new bathroom/shower facility which is very nice but the rest of the "restrooms" are just drop toilets (outhouses). The lake is currently undergoing a renovation so it's completely drained. There is a nice hiking trail around the lake but it's closed due to the lake construction. My one saving grace for this campground is the friendliness of the staff/volunteers. They are easily five stars. We came for the annual Apple Butter festival and they made our camping experience much better. Bottom line is that this campground needs some serious renovation to their sites (compared to other Ohio State Parks) but if you can manage that, this park could be a gem.
