For Falls Reserve Conservation Area: We're just wrapping up a week of very enjoyable camping. I think that we were here for their first camping week of the year but we wanted to be here before the May 24 long weekend when it will be very busy. We basically had the whole area to ourselves. The property is gorgeous with its open spaces, forest trails, riverside meadows and an abundance of songbirds.
Facilities - The bathrooms were clean but the hand dryers blew cold air. The showers were okay but you can't control the water temperature. The water turns on and off by a proximity sensor so it's a bit tricky getting the water warmed up without getting a cold splash. Tip, put the shower curtain in front of you when you activate the sensor so the initial cold blast hits the curtain and not you.
Grounds - the sites were clean, level and dry. There are quite a few options depending on what type of camping you are into. One negative that became apparent in our camping area during setup is the distance between the water supply tap and the hydro post; they are located at opposite corners of the site so be sure to bring along an extra long hose or power cable. Good firewood was hard to find. Gary's firewood just up the road had overprice unseasoned firewood that was fireproof. We ended up getting our wood at the Canadian Tire gas station at the south end of Goderich.
Returning? - yes we would, but not during a busy long weekend. All of the sites are large, the nearby town of Goderich is beautiful, the abundance of trails is remarkable and everyone we've met have been very welcoming. Be sure to get to the shores of Lake Huron to enjoy the stunning sunsets too.
