For Paulina Lake Campground: Stayed here for a week, so got a good feel for the place. Good: most sites are pretty big, and a few are super nice and private; some have lake views, there is a fair number of first come/first served sites so if you come mid week, you have a great chance at snagging a spot. Sites have trees so some shade, and there is lots of birds, chipmunks and stuff. The not so good: very weak to no cell signal, we used a booster and got 1-2 bars and we limped through our stay, lake is not easily accessible for swimming or fishing due to marshy areas around the lake; this campground is close to Bend, OR which is now a bigger city so it gets full with families, kids, and loud generators, and yes the ever present barking dogs. Typical for a nice lakeside place near any sizeable amount of humanity. We will come back here for sure, this campground is one of five or so campgrounds along Paulina and East Lakes. The sites are all in the monument so there is a separate fee to get into the monument, but it is federal land so all federal passes apply. There is a ton of hiking, fishing can be good, and there is a resort on East Lake with a decent restaurant. Swimming is better at East Lake. Paulina Lake CG is best for the larger rigs, those less than 30 feet in length can go to any of the other campgrounds. I recommend reservations for sure, unless coming to this specific CG mid week.
