For Detroit Lake State Recreation Area: We have been going to Detroit lake for years. We started by tent camping then graduated to a pop up trailer and now use the full hook up sites with our travel trailer. It is a large campground with lots of variety in their camp sites. There are usually a lot of kids in the campground as it is very family friendly, so it can be noisy in the middle of the day, but this rarely is a problem at night. The sites can vary from rather small to quite spacious. There are also slips available for a boat in the summer months. The lake is great for water sports, fishing or just letting the kids play in the water near the shore. There is a small limited general store and cell service is available for most carriers. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the hwy is quite close to the campground and can be heard at all times of the day or night. It does not bother me, but if you are sensitive to this, make sure you book a site closest to the water.
