For Laurel Hill State Park: I'm going to give LH a 3 stars but its very very close to being a 2. It has some very well kept nature trails, rivers, streams and a large beach. The Staff was extremely helpful in helping me find another spot on a busy weekend. The problems were uneven graded muddy grass sites with old electrical boxes that you need to share with your neighbor so even though the sites themselves are large you are forced to be on top of your neighbor or bring one heck of an extension cord. Also the first ring with lower numbers, the one with the "view" and playground is a dog specific ring. I'm sure the idea was to separate pet owners from people who dont want to be around pets but putting all the dogs together means when one dog barks they all seem to go off. Finally when compared to state park bathhouses in Virginia and the Carolinas I found these a bit rustic. The showers are better than average but the toilets need work and with most of the camp sites for tent campers they get a lot of use. I was worried it would be too far to visit Pittsburgh but 1 hour if you skip all the toll roads wasnt bad at all.

For Laurel Hill State Park: Laurel hill state park is one of our favorite camp grounds. If you get a spot on the perimeter of the field, the view is beautiful!! There are great hiking trails, the beach is clean and there is a very nice snack shop at the beach. The hosts are friendly, and seem to do more work than we typically see the hosts do. They host a blue grass festival every year that is free, and amazing!! I would recommend this park for day use or overnight.
