Tortuga Grande

For Bettys RV Park: “Go With The Flow - TORTUGA GRANDE REPORTING” Arrived on Friday 15th, 2019 @ about 5:15 pm; staying till Wednesday the 20th. The entrance has the marque with Betty's RV indicating the place to turn. We have a Bounder, Class A 35K with tow. Did not have to unhook my tow dolly, YAY! We find ourselves going with the flow as we travel the USA as FT. This location was no exception as I reveal the details of our set up and stay. I've called ahead and spoke to Wanda. She was very friendly and indicated she had a spot for 30 amps which was fine for us. Even though, we the coach is 50 amps. With respect to all Marines, this serve us well throughout our travel, “Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome!" The long entrance is compacted dirt and sand with a few small indentations along the way, no big deal. It is always nice and slow for us and our Tortuga Grande (coach name - Big Turtle). The rest of the interior roads also had a few indentations here and there, No Big Deal - NBD! Wanda had asked we stop about 50 ft or so along the entrance at the white/cream color mobile home. We did and my wife knocked on the door with no success of an answer. We called Wanda and she said to drive in and she would meet us, great. Drove in and sure enough there was a gentle face woman, bundled up cause it was sprinkling and bit of chill filled the air. She pointed to a grassy area where we could connect to electricity and water. The sewage service was further in and we would use it before we leave. Unfortunately, after connecting and setting everything up, there was a surprised waiting for us. It rained all evening causing a problem to the electrical connection extension provided by the owner which took on some water at one of the electrical extension boxes and it fried the connectors. This was the following day in the morning with no rain to deal with. This is when most people would loose it and aggravate themselves into a bundle of nerves; not me. I look forward to solving the challenges that come along in life. This being one of them. The man that helps out in CG came out with Wanda and decided to move us very close to the original location just a few feet away closer to the direct electrical 30 amp box. This was great. By the way, we have a build it search protector which is invaluable to any coach connecting to any electrical box. Don't leave home without it or you will fry your appliances and maybe your coach. The coach - Tortuga Grande settled both times on a thick carpet of grass. I always use double jack pads on grass, gravel, sand, dirt, etc. The coach was leveled almost from the start, tremendous. We connected to electrical and the water spout already had a double connector with gauge and one open connection available. Unforeseen to me, I connected by gauge, filter, etc which turned out to be a mistake because the weight of my connection broke the neighbor's plastic connector spewing water very, very early morning which the neighbor came out and turned water off and connected his water hose. Understandable, since we were not awake so early, early morning, which is a crime in our book to be awake so early, }:>). So he went off to work and we discover later in the morning that we had no city water. Upon turning on the sink and no water available; I went out to discover the tragedy. Again, no worries - “Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome”. I temporarily disconnected his connection. Of course, I check to see if anyone was home! Proceeded to fill my fresh water tank, since we were leaving in a couple of day. Wanda happened to be around when I went out in my double take morning outfit with Maine Lobster cap to control the hair to check on the water situation. We discussed connecting to another water spout that was to far for our water hose. Through all of our delightful, somewhat challenging stay, Wanda was extremely understanding and very gracious. I would come back here in a beat. Lesson learned, “Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome”. I am going to by an extra heavy duty copper Y connector splitter, never know when i'll need it. Lastly, I know! when is this guy going to stop writing, right? I like details which certainly help everybody. Instead of the 2 sentence descriptions I read. As always, leave the place better than what you found it, be courteous and graceful. TORTUGA GRANDE REPORTING - Blessed beyond measure, Gal. 5:1

For Bettys RV Park: Clean, well managed park. Easy to get to. Owners live on site and went out of their way to accommodate us. Good electric, city water.
