Dewayne

For Kemps Kamp: The camp ground is beautiful and only about 2.5 miles from Mt. Rushmore. Staff very friendly campground well kept. Price was just over $50 dollars a night in July 2020. The only reason for not making 5 stars is the campground is very tight for large rigs as is the small county road getting there (we are in a 35ft rig). Keystone is a small tourist town very nice and worth a visit. There is also a small novelty train that travels from Keystone past the campground a few times a day.

Angie

For Kemps Kamp: Loved this campground. In a 21 ft van, we had no problems parking on the upper level. Quiet, very clean and super friendly staff. Easy access to all the Mt Rushmore area has to offer. Loved the fact that I could hike at the camp since it is surrounded by National forest. Covered patio with picnic table made rain a non-issue and was a much appreciated feature. Showers were very clean with hot water and great pressure. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Missy Bennie

For Kemps Kamp: What a wonderful campground! Tom was great to work with and as we were there during the off season, we got our choice of sites. The grounds were immaculate and well groomed. The small camper sites each had a covered picnic table and grill. The bathrooms were spotless with large showers and plenty of hot water. Inexpensive laundry facilities which we did not use. The campground was quiet and very close (<10 minutes) to Keystone and Mt Rushmore. We highly recommend the campground and hope to return in the future

Jane

For Kemps Kamp: We were there 3 nights, nice campground. Restrooms are rustic but clean, nice hot showers. Centrally located to most of what the Black Hills offers. It is located next to a county road and train tracks (small sightseeing train) and in the flight pattern of annoying helicopter traffic. Having said that, if you are active and away from the campground during the day, it is perfect. If you want to hang out and just relax it wouldn’t be my choice. The train/helicopter traffic stops well before dark. Owners and employees are kind and helpful.

Greg

For Kemps Kamp: We had a great stay here, so close to everything but still far enough out for no noise. There is a train that runs by but we never saw it. Train doesn’t run at night. We would stay here again. Staff was great.

Kim

For Kemps Kamp: This place was ok. If you like the sound of trains, this is for you. If you like to be next to a road, this is for you. If you like yellow water (probably iron the water), this is for you. If you use public restrooms and like the smell of mildew on wood, this is for you. They quoted me $45/night for electric and water and an additional $5 to use their dump station. I had asked about Good Sam discount and they said they would take 10% off. When we got there, he just gave me a total and I paid for it. There was no break down of each night. This is as much my fault as I did not ask to see the break down, but I think we paid full price. We were only there for a couple of nights.

OffIsland

For Kemps Kamp: This is a charming campground and as others have described, the babbling brook really makes the campground. And the tent sites look really nice. However we are in a big rig and it was really not a great choice. The sites that could accommodate larger rigs are tight and the trees aren’t limbed up. Our neighbors sewer was 2 feet from our picnic table. There was a pile of cig butts in our grate which makes me think they don’t check or clean sites. The facilities look tired and run down. The WiFi was great, one of the best we’ve had in a campground. It is a great location, but in an area filled with so many charming choices I’d probably look elsewhere if in a big rig.
