For KOA Journey Newport: Stayed for one night just passing through. Getting a big-rig in the campground is mildly treacherous as there is a very narrow bridge to cross that has no safety rails or curb at all. One host admitted the campground was opened in the '70's when camping rigs were smaller; it would be nice to widen that bridge by about 2 feet. Once inside, our site was level-ish but it was still a big step to get into our rig. The entire campground could use some updating. The hosts seemed friendly enough. Bath house looked clean, again could use updating.

For KOA Journey Newport: We only stayed one night on our trip to the south east in early January. I found the staff pleasant and the gravel site fairly level. All hook ups worked including the cable (cable box provided) and WiFi signal was great. Many long term folks but they seemed well kept. Pool was closed since this is off season. I’d stay here again for sure.

For KOA Journey Newport: Old and tired campground. When we plugged in our surge protector we got a reading that there was and open ground warning. The “maintenance guy†was fascinated by our search protector and said he never seen one of those before. (That was our first clue). We moved to a new spot and the connection there, and the electric plug was cracked. Sites not real level. We were also warned the sewer system was slow. Nice staff, but not a place I would recommend for anyone to vacation at.

For KOA Journey Newport: 2 Stars for our Allstays review. We stayed one travel night. Overall this RV park barely rates fair ...tired and a bit run down. The sites are just OK and fairly level. They could use more gravel/rock to cover sites. Location a bit off of I-40 so you hear highway noise when outside on patio but not overly noticeable when in RV. One issue is their sub-par cable TV set up. It requires an adapter to be plugged into the back of your TV which is very problematic if (like us) you have a flat mounted TV that is not on a swing out bracket. So Cable TV is essentially worthless here. Also their office store was completely out of bagged ice which we found unacceptable.

For KOA Journey Newport: We had a reservation for five nights to be centrally located to the Smoky Mointains, Gatlinberg, and Asheville. Traveling across the country for six months, we have stayed and many different camp grounds. This has got to be the worst KOA. The pool was green and the grounds were not very well cared for. There were a lot of long term residents and some rv's look as though they have not moved in years. With that being said there was not a chance that I would use the showers or laundry room.
The funny thing is that on Saturday the park was full and they decided to blow and vacuum the leaves, there was so much dust blowing that we had to close the windows. They also had a huge pile of trash (leaves and mattresses) that they burned. Not sure why they chose the busiest day to do this.
It's okay for an overnight stay, but any longer I would not recommend.

For KOA Journey Newport: Stayed one night 6/10/2016 passing through - Nice campground and very friendly staff. Would give 5 stars, but the fire pit was full to the brim of trash, not ashes, trash. So had we wanted to make a fire we'd have needed to clean out the fire pit first. Really surprised us for a KOA. All the KOAs we ever stayed at the camp site was cleaned and fire pit empty. All in all, nice CG, sites gravel and fairly level. Would recommend to others and stay here again ourselves.

For KOA Journey Newport: Clean restroom and shower. closely spaced gravel sites- some more level than others. Close to I-40 so there's a bit of road noise. Fine for a one night stay.
