Carla

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: My rating of 3 is an average of the setting…..beautiful, wooded, lakeside………and the facility. Our spot is level, but I will not be using the showers or bathrooms. The “laundry” is 1 stackable unit, and an outside sink. One small washing machine for maybe 30-40 camping spots.

Command Master Chief

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: In all my travels this is by far the worst fan camp I have ever seen. All the so call pad are so unlevel that you will need a step ladder to get into your rig and it’s still not level. The staff is trying to run the camp without even going to the camp. They should all be fired. I know the USAF can do betterthen this

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: Great setting along the man-made lake (used for cooling of testing facilities at Arnold AFB). Convenient drive to Lynchburg (Jack Daniels). Couple of hours to Nashville and about an hour to Chattanooga. Quiet. Cost is exceptional. Only reason not 5 stars is no sewer hookup.

Duane Peck

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: We camped for 3 days in January 2021. We too found the 4 ton restriction on the road leading out to it a little concerning. Talked to a local and it’s mostly to prevent semi’s from using it as a shortcut through the base. We have a large Class C with a toad. The roads around/through the camp are gravel and it is tight getting around but it just takes a little care. Saw Class A and several 5th wheels on site. There are water and electricity at sites. Dump station on site. Sites are nice concrete pads. Some back right up to the lake. We didn’t use any of the other facilities but really enjoyed the campground. If you want a resort this isn’t it. If you want a heavily tree lined camp with lake views this is it. TV and Verizon signal good. We’d not hesitate to stay here again. $22 per night I believe. Office lady was very friendly and promptly returned our phone calls.

Workingdog

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: One of the poorest maintained military RV parks I've been in. The interior roads are gravel and washed out in many places, l had to clean packed dirt from one leg of my 50 amp receptacle and the place was in serious need of mowing. We were here because of it's location to the Jack Daniels distillery we wanted to visit. If you're more than 30' be careful moving in and through plus be aware there is a 4 ton causeway on one route in. Registration is several miles distant with not a lot of room to maneuver. Make reservations and then use your dinghy to go to register. ATT phone service is poor and their Wifi is weak.

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: Arnold AFB
Tullahoma, TN
4 stars (Oct 18-26, 2016)

Arnold AFB is a small base, yet complete with a small Exchange, Commissary, and gym. The Recreation Office has a friendly and helpful staff. We rented kayaks for half a day for $6 each. The base recreation area sits on Woods Reservoir and we had a waterfront site.

It is a beautiful area with several State Parks nearby and lots of hiking and biking. As for the RV Park, it was older with some tight turns for big rigs (ground guide recommended). We were in site #19, which stated it was a back in. However, the hookups and patio were reversed so it was actually a pull-in. We ended up having to drive around the campground again to get positioned. Another drawback if you plan to stay past a few days is that it is water/electric only, no sewer. The hdtv signal was as good as anywhere we've been and cell reception was excellent. If you need washer/dryer, there was only one but it was free. The facilities were clean. There are some low lying branches and many of the branches appeared dead. The interior roads were gravel and washed out in several places. The pro is that it was only $12/night (rates vary). It's a nice place to get away with conveniences nearby.

Ray

For Arnold AFB FamCamp: Nice quiet place, friendly folks. Swimming beach, boat ramp, they could use a couple more showers though. Some of the spots are a little tough to back into with a TT.
