For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: This campground needs some TLC. It has a neglected feel to it even though there seems to be a large staff. The roads need fixing. The sign on our site was faded and laying on the ground. Many of the election stanchion face plates were broken and propped up with rocks. They don’t know how to do scheduling very well. People were being forced to move from one site to another while campsites sat empty. We seldom saw anyone working around the campground. Supervisors need to be more diligent about what the folks are doing. All hookups worked fine. The internet was useless. Only available after hours since it interfered with office opens.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: The view from the campsite is wonderful. We can see Canyon Lake and watch the boats. There is a trail that leads down to the lake but no place to really go in the lake. There is a wonderful nature trail that goes partially around the campground. The marina and beach are in walking distance. I only give 3 out of 5 stars because of the litter I see in the bushes and different park areas. Also I feel the bathrooms are filthy so I will not use them. Thank goodness I have an RV.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: We spent Christmas season here since the Ft. Sam park was full. The place is beautiful and for $17 a day you cannot beat it. It was a bit cold however our furnace kept us toasty. Friendly people all around and very quiet. Lots of deer and a beautiful site! The staff was super friendly.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: We love coming to this area. The lake is beautiful and there is lots to see. You can rent boats or other water equipment. RV sites are nice but the bathrooms and shower facilities are in very poor condition and not clean.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: Great place. I stayed there with my grandson last summer. It's very quite and clean. The isn't much to do on site. There are hiking trails, a place to swim, fish and boat rental. The price was geeat. I think it was $12.00 a day with water and electric hook up. I would go back.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: We stayed at Sunny Side for the second time in two years. We even stayed at the same place, spot number 4. We really like this place. We have a bumper pull RV and it has full hookups, etc for $15 a night so its very reasonable. The pads are extra large and lots of shade. You should call ahead for a reservation, though. We recommend this...about 1/2 mile away are more spots and a country store but a lot of those spots are close together. Sunny Side is much better but you have to drive to the other place to get unsecured wifi, unfortunately. This is only for military related families with IDs, etc so there are no riff raff floating about.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: Very Nice, clean campground right near the water.
Well developed hiking trails and a couple decks that overlook the water from the hill above.
Very clean, heated/ Air conditioned bathrooms with Hot showers!
Level sites with fire rings and grills.
Deer passed thru our site all evening and into the morning.
Great price at $15.00 a night for full hook-ups!
