For LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature Park Camp: Great park. Quick walk to the beach, riverfront sites. All sites are flat, paved, and large. 5-10 minutes to matagorda if you need anything.

For LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature Park Camp: This park is a gem. The spots are big, the park is immaculate and you get to hear the roar of waves. The park has activities such as bird watching hike, kayaking to a deserted island and more. There's coffee, a gift shop and short walk to the beach.

For LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature Park Camp: Beautiful park, I stayed close to the water with grass surrounding my site. Very clean, no trash, quiet, great for bird watching. Some people fish, and one lady put out a trap for crabs. There was a steady breeze. Good thing, watch out for those mosquitoes, and some biting flies. I would come back here again.

For LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature Park Camp: Lovely, low key, very well maintained park, located where the Colorado River meets the Gulf of Mexico. There are two RV loops; the south loop is closest to the Gulf and the Nature Center, while the north loop is closest to the office and the boat launch. Both loops have back-in sites on the outside of the loop and pull-thrus on the inside. We had a back-in site on the north loop that backed right up to the river, about 25 feet behind our rig, with a beautiful view out our windows of the river looking down towards the Gulf. We saw lots of waterfowl and other animals out our window. There are very few trees and nothing to break the wind coming in off the Gulf, so it can be quite blustery at times. The park offers free internet, but we couldn't pick it up on the north loop; we heard it was better on the south loop, especially close to the Nature Center.

For LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature Park Camp: We camped near the water in October. The wind blew through the night, and was very pleasant. One pier is lighted at night. Caught a 20" flounder. All sites level, with picnic table, and lantern holder. Big cement slabs for picnic, and level cement back in sites. Well maintained with neatly trimmed grass, but no trees. It is at the mouth of the Colorado river, where it joins the Gulf of Mexico. The campsites are along the river. We went birding and fishing.
