For Main - Brazos Bend State Park: Brazos Bend has got to be one of our favorite state parks ever! We absolutely loved all of the nature to explore and the extensive trail system. We saw all sorts of wildlife and were so impressed with how well the park was kept. Not to mention, the sites were huge and very well spaced out. Although it was a bit far from Houston, you could still easily drive in for the day for a visit. We loved this place and will be back again!
The one thing I didn’t like was the gate system after hours. After 10pm, the gates close and you have to use a code to get in/out. This normally wouldn’t bother me because most gates are automatic- however, this gate is a combo pad lock. Getting out of the car at 2am in the middle of the wilderness in pitch dark was a little creepy. I’m sure they will upgrade it when they have the resources! 😊

For Main - Brazos Bend State Park: Really great park for hiking and seeing wildlife. Tons of gators in the lakes. The bathrooms were clean. I stayed in the Red Buckeye loop and thought the campsites were just average as far as scenery. But they are well kept, level and paved.

For Main - Brazos Bend State Park: So close to a major city you find this peaceful place teeming with wildlife. Although many people come for day trips a multi day stay in the spacious campground is recommended. There are trails to explore and good places to view wild life. Back at your campsite you will enjoy bird calls and owls at night.

For Main - Brazos Bend State Park: Excellent park for larger RVs. All sites combine large paved parking for rig, with water and 50 amp on one loop and water and 30 amp on other loop. Sites are mostly well shaded with mature trees, have fire rings and tables on well spaced generously sizes sites. Camping area is nicely maintained and frequently patrolled by ranger and hosts.
The park itself has much to do with abundant wildlife. Birds aplenty, armadillo, deer and gators. Lots of trails, an observatory, and nature center offer plenty to do.
