For Chesapeake Bay RV Resort: Never has one campground with so much potential been so slighted by shifting management and a money hungry parent company. Thousand Trails Chesapeake is own by Equity Lifestyles Properties, Inc. They own hundreds of campgrounds across the country. Their sales team will try to impress you with the vast network of campgrounds and resorts revel in the opportunities that await you if you sign up. What they don’t tell you is that every April they sell more and more CG sites to annual “campersâ€. TT Chesapeake has more that 50% of their sites(excluding cabins and tent site) taken by people willing to in excess of $4500 per year for the site of their choice(which are the CHOICEST sites of the entire CG) for their home away from home. Actually pretty smart of ELP,Inc to sell the very property that the sales team claims will be available to the week warriors as they hand over in excess of $5k for a top notch membership which they WILL have difficulty using. More and more memberships, less sites available and hot mess of a power grid make this CG a headache for the members. Yet...we all want to be there. This CG is why we signed up. Muddy when it rains and a dust bowl 2 days later. Derelict trailers squat in what was green space and common area. Can’t give up that monthly storage fee. Two of most popular amenities are the two pools and the pickle ball courts. The smaller pool was once adults only. The other larger pool was family. The ruined that by removing the adults only rule. The pickle ball courts are a disgrace. No maintenance,no upkeep, not even a broom to sweep the trash off. Teen center? Gone. Kitchen/hot tub/community center-closed! Now they did recently open a remodeled bath house which I must say is the absolute best I have EVER seen! And it should be as it took over a year and a 2 dump truck loads of money to finish. All said this CG has the most potential of any CG. It sits along the Piankatank River which I’m told is one of the cleanest rivers in the state. Well once again there is new management at TT Chesapeake. Will she make a difference? Will they fix the roads? Drainage? The out dated power grid and too few 50AMP sites? Only time will tell. I’ll be back in a couple months.. Update to follow.

For Chesapeake Bay RV Resort: Spaces are quite large and flat. Quiet. Had to use our cell data for WiFi but Dish TV was good. Definitely off season as the outdoor pool was closed and the nice permanent Pickleball courts looked unused for awhile.

For Chesapeake Bay RV Resort: Best Thousand Trails in the region.Very nice pool. Two pools one for families the other is adults only. Nice private beach areas for swimming in the river as well and cheap ice cream for the kids. Loved it and could have stayed another week. If we decide to renew our membership it would be because of this campground alone.

For Chesapeake Bay RV Resort: Lovely campground. Nearest store 8+ miles away. Poor to no TV reception. But HUGE tv in adult lounge. Many sites have great view of the water. Mostly flat sites with dirt/gravel bases. Roadways also dirt with some ruts.
Visited here in the early fall and it is very peaceful.

For Chesapeake Bay RV Resort: The Good
Friendly staff, nice store, huge inexpensive servings of ice cream, well-maintained putt-putt course, equipment rentals (kayaks, etc), boat launch, and a game room. You have plenty of room for a large rig, full hook-ups, and you won't feel like sardines at a campsite.
About 30 minutes away from civilization (Walmart, WAWA, restaurants, Tractor Supply, etc.)
The Bad (from a Full-time RV Family)
The FREE WiFi as of October 2014 is SLOWER than dial-up, 0.02 mbps and I'd only available in the Community Center building. Verizon Wireless is the only carrier that gets service out here (LTE data).
Park closes from December 1 - March 1.
