For Mauthe Lake - Kettle Moraine SF: Situated next to a natural "kettle" lake, the campground is broken down into 5 areas. The 100 loop is the easiest to maneuver in and has the deepest spots. The downside to the 100 loop is that it's very swampy and buggy. Be very careful when selecting a site to make sure your rig will fit; there were a lot of shallow sites that had electric. That makes Mauthe Lake a haven for the pop-up crowd, and there were many.
Mauthe Lake Recreation Area has ample picnic space and a public beach as well as an accessible fishing pier. The shower building was in good shape and firewood is available via a vending machine at the entrance gate. The campground is well isolated from roads so the only noise you hear will be from within the campground. Great for a weekend getaway.
