For Fort Pickens - Gulf Islands National Seashore: Fort Pickens itself is amazing. The beaches are gorgeous and the fort area is interesting. There is a nice walking/bike path connecting it to the campsites. The campground itself is fine. The sites are nice, although closer than we would have liked. The bathrooms were clean but stuffy. All of that was so worth it though because of the surrounding area.

For Fort Pickens - Gulf Islands National Seashore: I dinged this Campground one star only because the sites are closer together than most non-independent ones are and they are a bit challenging to get into. We only have a 24 ft trailer and it took some back and forth to get it in our spot - E65. (Which is a great spot btw) and barely enough room to fit our truck parked at an angle. On the positive side - the beach is amazing. One has to pay to get into the national park,so that keeps the crowds down. A lot. White sand. Turquoise water. The bathhouses are good too. One other thing to keep in mind is that many of the sites do not have shade. Ours did, but most don't. The sea breeze kept it very comfortable.

For Fort Pickens - Gulf Islands National Seashore: Typical National Park... beautiful seashore, with lots of birds! Campground tight maneuvering for big rigs.

For Fort Pickens - Gulf Islands National Seashore: Fantastic location. Clean. Quiet. Do your homework on sites if you have a big rig like us. Loop A is smaller, more secluded and has nice shade. Some sites have restricted height so check that when you reserve online. We will be back.

For Fort Pickens - Gulf Islands National Seashore: Awesome experience! Stayed a few nights early sept. Loop E, site 1. Nice level shade spot. GORGEOUS beach is right across the street. I have 5 and 6 year old kids. We walked or biked to the beach. Good snorkeling. Saw Dolphins, sting ray, sea slugs, sand dollars, jelly fish, puffer fish, crabs. Be sure to snorkel on the bay side. There are tons of hermit crabs there! Kids fav thing was ghost crabbing after dark. Take a net and headlamp! Also enjoyed touring Fort Pickens. Kids did the booklet and earned their junior ranger badges. This is a pristine, low trafficked beach.
