For Hackberry Lake OHV Area: About 25 minutes outside of Carlsbad, this BLM site does allow camping for up to 14 days, I did not see anything against tents. There are about four tables with coverings and bbqs, as well as a a pit toilet. I arrived here on a Sunday night and had the place to myself. I car camped next to one of the tables, it was very quiet and super dark. Not much around here and is a drive into town, but is a quite, well equipped, and well kept site.
