The Captain andSybil
For Riverside Campground: Oct. 2019 - We stayed at this campground for 9 days. We had a front row view of the water with gorgeous sunsets. The campground is very laidback, with many stationery fifth wheels and trailers. We were the only RV there. There is a lot of boating activity. We met the owner on the day we arrived and once again 5 days later. He took us to our site where we had full hookups and sewer. The area was recommended to us to observe migratory birds. Sadly, we were a month early and didn’t see anything.
On the other hand, if you want a quiet place to rest and hang out, kayak and fish, this is the place for you.
There is a laundry room with 2 washing machines and 2 driers. It’s a honor system, you leave money in the drop box. We did not use the bathrooms, but I went and inspected them. They seemed okay. There is a Food Lions and a number of restaurants in Belhaven (a rather depressed area), a 15 minutes drive from the campground. The Mattamuskeet lake is about 45 minutes drive. Grey water and nothing special
Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
