For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: The spot saved our bacon because the campgrounds inside the national park were full. Thank you to all the other reviewer’s that made us comfortable deciding to go ahead with our trip and stay here. This area is huge! We think we counted almost 100 rigs on the Saturday night we were there. When heading to the park we camped on the left side of the main road and thought it was better than the right. I agree with others that it’s a great idea to get there in the daylight. We heard faint road noise but it was not an issue. Very peaceful area and we would stay again. So nice to not be crammed in with other RVs in a campground!

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: Great for an free spot in the desert. Very quiet. If you are looking for a campground with paved roads and level sites, THIS ISN'T IT. Definitely arrive before dark so you can see. The roads/paths are pretty rough and finding a level spot is a challenge. There were already 25 or more campers of all shapes and sizes here when we arrived with room for many more. We were in a 36' Class A towing a Jeep.

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: Not sure what “Jolene from Napa” was reviewing. This is BLM land disbursed camping (no fees). JTNP first-come-first-served campgrounds were all full (have come to conclusion that in CA these days you *always* need a reservation in any National Park) even in off season. We learned of this BLM option on our way out of JTNP on the board outside the Cottonwood Visitor Center. Highly recommend arriving before dark. We took first dirt road on the east side of the road and watched for obvious “washout” areas to avoid in case of heavy rain/flooding. Nearest neighbors are 100+ ft away and as others mention, can see but not hear I-10. Very quiet (except for post-rainstorm wind at night. Early morning not windy, but typical desert gusty winds during our January 9-11, 2020 stay. Saw some tent campers, mostly RVs, as expected.

Pulling at our Dream

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: Very nice place to boondock. Cell phone service is great AT&T. Plenty of room in our 26tt, no freeway noise. There are two main roads in if you go to the last entrance before the brown Joshua Tree NP sign turning left the road is smoother and wider. We will absolutely come back and JTNP is not to far up the hill.

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: This is a good BLM site well used but lots of room. We were in 34’ mh with toad. Easy access to JTNP. Nearly impossible to get one of the tiny campsite in the park so this is a great alternative. No freeway noise.

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: The location info says 15 spaces, but it looks like there are dozens to me. Good access. About a mile up the hill from I-10. Can faintly hear road noise. Scored a level spot. Lots of beautiful vegetation, especially flowers, in this desert location. No facilities. Roomier than the cramped sites in the park, so this may be a better bet for big rigs.

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: Not a bad site but there were quite a few other campers. It was quiet. Couldn’t hear the fwy noise. Windy on 12/29/18 but we were able to park our 34’ TT and Dodge PU with no problem. Easy on & off the fwy. Not a lot of level ground but no where near as busy as the Chiriaco Rd site.
