For McHood Park Campground: While no longer free ($15,) this was a really nice place to swim and relax. The water is clear and you can tube the river for a couple of miles. The campsites are very basic, but they did have pull through spaces and it was fine for a night.

For McHood Park Campground: I’ve been here since COVID 19 became a thing. The governor issued a shutdown of the state, but the Director of Winslow parks fought to keep it open. He came around to let us know that the park might shut down, then came back to let us know it would stay open. Really nice guy. The park is very nice as far as scenery. The reservoir is absolutely beautiful. There is an abundance of birds flying around. It’s an oasis in the desert. They have a boat launch, you can fish, there are nice trails to hike. The sites have a grill. There is no water available, but it’s just about 12 minutes to Winslow. Maverik has free water and dump station, and there is a Walmart close by. The sites are far enough apart that you can run your generator without bothering your neighbor, although posted quiet hours are 10 pm to 6am. One thing that was a negative was that it was often windy, but the beauty made it worth it. They also have a dumpster. I would definitely stay here again.

For McHood Park Campground: What a nice place to stay. I was here last April and was very busy so unable to get a spot but we stayed by the launch parking lot. In November, lot of space... tx to the county...

For McHood Park Campground: Wow! This is free? Beautiful level, paved pull-thru sites overlooking a lagoon teaming with birds, ducks, geese. Truly an amazing find. BBQ grills and picnic tables at each site. Fill up your fresh water at the Flying J in Winslow before heading out here.

For McHood Park Campground: This is a great place… And it’s free! No problem with our 40 foot motorhome. It’s dry camping. Take a walk back across the bridge to the day picnic area and take a great swim!

For McHood Park Campground: We agree with the other reviews here. We have a very large rig, and had no problem accessing the park, not terribly far off of I-40. There is the low clearance bridge as stated in other reviews, but it's fine. The access road to the park is newly paved and very wide, super nice. It is peaceful and orderly and well-kept. We did not use the bathroom facilities but they looked clean and well kept. The park host for the summer was there and he is a very friendly, welcoming person and we really enjoyed visiting with him when he came by to take down our information. He runs the park very well and makes sure things are as they should be. The day use area on the other side of the water is beautiful and interesting with large rocks and cliffs, we took several walks in the area. We would definitely stay here again, short trip into Winslow to get your picture "standin' on the corner" and sample the local Navajo fry bread for $1! Delicious! www.RomanyLife.com
