For Southwest Walk In - Lassen Volcanic National Park: We were looking for a place to stay in or near Lassen Volcanic NP that would be convenient to hiking. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a Friday night in mid-September in our 25 foot MH.
This is a very convenient location. The tent only CG is at the east end of the Visitor Center parking lot. RVs are allowed to park overnight in center section of the parking lot. There were 4 other RVs overnighting. The fee is $16/$8 senior. It is literally parking overnight in a parking lot with a rest room. Most spaces require some leveling. There are a few trees and not much shade in the RV parking lot. (Tent sites were in the trees.) There's a water spigot available 24/7 at the Visitor Center. There's weak, slow wifi available in the Visitor Center. There's occasionally usable ATT and Verizon cell coverage in the parking lot. This camp loses a star for value - high rate for a parking lot with no services - and gains a star for location - 1/4 mile from the trailhead and at Visitor Center.
The Visitor Center was quite informative. The hike to and views from Brokeoff Mountain were beautiful, as was the scenic drive.
